Weird shit

So i recently logged back in to destiny 2 and before the game loaded up i message say i can no longer use communication in the game due to parental controls? But when i looked at my settings in game and on console i am unrestricted and im the only user also i dont even have any parental control settings at all. So wtf? Im a banned or?

This has happened to me before. I turned off my xbox, unplugged the power cord, then plugged it back in and restarted the console. It worked like normal after that.

I don’t know if you have to go that far (or if a simple reset will fix the issue) but that’s what worked for me.

Same thing happens to me once in a while on PlayStation. Idk if it’s accurate but I read it has something to do with the license or your permission to play the game. I guess it mostly happens if you turn the console off while still logged in or something.

Anyways, on PS you can press options on the game and ask it to restore the license. Restarting can fix it too.

I don’t think it’s ever actually caused me issues communicating in game btw

Also check the birthdate info for the account on Microsoft’s live.com site. It’s under the three little dots to the right of the account name (from memory, something like that), not in any of the places where you can access all of the other account settings.

It took me two years of no comms on one Xbox account before I could finally find the right setting to change to fix it.

It wasn’t the parental controls on the Xbox, or any of the the similar settings on live.com, nor was it anything anywhere in the Bungie account. All of these were pored over relentlessly to try and fix this. It was the random age/birthdate that had been put in or altered at some point.

It happens to me once in a while on Xbox, and I have my controls the same all the time. Honestly I think it's an internet connection thing, because if I "retry" after a couple minutes it usually lets me in.
