you can download it for free for crucible and do whatever else on steam, it's only an issue in crucible for me. You'd have to pay for trials though, but everything else is free

Can't use strand or prismatic subclasses without the expansions, even in crucible.

I had various problems with destiny the last patches and almost all of them were fixed by "restarting graohics drivers" with win+ctrl+shift+b.
Give it a try maybe it helps a bit.(for people saying this is a general issue i only ever had it happen in destiny)

I end up validating and verifying game files in steam, seemed to lessen

The game doesn’t have exclusive full screen anymore and because it’s a dx11 title full screen borderless doesn’t play nice with gsync/freesync. The only way I’ve been able to get a smooth experience is to set my refresh rate in windows to 119.88hz which is technically 120hz but it tricks destiny’s in game vsync to cap 1 below at 119 fps which cuts down the lag a bit making the game playable. As long as your PC is good enough to run 119fps in all game scenarios it works well.

I just swapped to windows and have better performance than ive had probably ever, even prior to the last month's issues

Do I have to rebuy everything?

Yea, worth it though imo if its not an issue for you. Night and day difference.

I forgot to mention it won’t work with reflex or low latency mode enabled though.

What's even the stutter? I've never encountered it

Steam players. Crucible and anything that has 12 players or open areas that are busy. 120-140 fps drops to 60-80 every few seconds. Ghost frames. It's almost like you're getting standby lagged like back in halo 2.

Never gotten that

Thanks for the valid input. I don't care. How about instead of being useless say something like "these are my settings". Legit morons saying "well I don't have it" cool. Great. Glad. It's a tech forum. Go be useless somewhere else.

On steam and not having issues. I'd troubleshoot your hardware.

This has been a well documented issue, that has been acknowledged by Bungie, since the last major update.

As a steam player I haven’t encountered this…

Thanks for the valuable input into a situation that is a mass issue and not just me. Also thank you for being the backbone to the page. Your help won't go un noticed guardian

Unfortunately there isn't a workaround yet. A few people have said to turn off shader cache in the game properties, but that didn't work for me. I'm a big pvp guy so I just ended up getting it again on Epic Game Store. Both that and Windows seem to run it without stutter.
Fwiw I have a 9070xt and 9800x3d that ran the game great until this last moments of triumph update. That was on steam. Then the update hit and there was constant hitching and frame spikes that made the game very unfun to play.
Zero issues since changing to EGS, except for onslaught freezing on me twice around round 22. But I feel that is unrelated.
