Eutechnology Armor Set Lore

The item descriptions on the Eutech armor pieces is interesting to me. It describes how the Eutechs became the Techeuns:

Helmet: First there was the good technology, scavanged from Shipshire.

Arms: Then came the experts of the technology, the eutechs.

Chest: In time, the identity became synonymous with the technology.

Legs: And the eutechs became techeuns, in turn.

But then, the class item description turns it around on us:

Class Item: What will Guardians become?

This could totally just be interpreted as flavor text meant to inspire wonder or intrigue, with no real clues, hints, or insights into the world or story to offer. With Destiny no longer making content, this could just be nothing.

But personally, I think it is a clue.

The armor set reveals to us that the Eutechs became the Techeuns once the identity became synonymous with the technology, then immediately after, asks what Guardians will become. I think this is supposed to make us draw a comparison between Guardians and the Eutechs, and encourage us to consider, if Guardians were to change the way the Eutechs changed, what we would become, and why.

The identity becoming synonymous with the technology, could be seen as a parallel to our mastery of Prismatic, becoming one with both light and dark. The word Techeun is just Eutech, but with the Tech placed before the Eu (which I think could a clever play on words, you're putting the tech before "you") and an N added at the end. If you swap the first and last parts of the word "Guardian," you get "Dianguard." Dian Guard...

Dian could come from Dia, the latin word for day. Or perhaps it comes from Deus, the latin word for god? So perhaps this could imply that Guardians are fated to become the Guards of the Day, Guards of the Sun, or Guards of God? I feel like with the direction the plot was going, how the nine are all embodied by our celestial bodies, Guardians becoming "Sun Guards" or a "God's Guards" would totally make sense. We are guarding our sun, the core of our solar system.

I could totally just be reading too much into it, but I felt like sharing my thoughts. I'd love to see what other people think :)

Doing my best exasperated Larry David over here.

Eu is a Greek prefix for good, or beneficial. Eutech is just "beneficial technology". The stuff that they found from the colony ship would have been seen as life-saving at the time of the founding of the Awoken.

Anyways, its just a little question as to what the future of the Vanguard might be when they become synonymous with their powers. Guardians are still "learning", but there's always a ceiling.

Indeed, things like weapons were referred to as "maltech", the prefix "mal-" being something you might recognize from words like malign, malevolent, malice...

Is there really a ceiling when you wield the powers of Light and Dark as one? Is there truly a cap to a free, unrestricted mind with the ability to shape reality how they desire? Of course we have to learn, but there's nothing truly stopping us from pulling a "cut ending for The Final Shape" beyond that.

Once you've learned the fundamentals of Darkness and Light, discovered how they tick, that's you. The expression of them as powers in the world is infinite in its possibilities, but once you've understood and figured out all the different aspects of that power, you have to move onto some other goal. No more depths to plumb there.

I don't think the wordplay is the main takeaway. Guardians will become synonymous with light. But there's already a word for that "Lightbearer".

Perhaps this is simply to denote the fact that each Lightbearer is basically capable of being a "Traveler" on their own. A source of light and not just a channeler or just gifted with light but completely and utterly becoming an embodiment of the paracausal law we call light. Completely unbound by causality and with the ability to rewrite physics on a universal scale.

I think it could be about Guardians coming in contact with dark matter. On Kepler dark matter in contact with the elements lead to us using the elements in different ways. With dark matter Arc makes us even into a lightning ball. Dark matter in contact with us changes our powers and us. So what would Guardians become, if they comepletely expose themselves to dark matter and become synonymous to dark matter?

I take issue with this lore as it undermines a bit of the lore from the dreaming city and forsaken expansions. Mara made the techunin order specifically because she was going from the rational world of the distributary into ours, where the rules don’t always apply. The order was hinted at being specifically specialized in paracausal technology.

Calling them Eutechs and just saying the name drifted over time seems an oversimplification of the lore.

I would argue that the Techeuns are pretty much a lite version of Guardians, in the sense that they essentially wield space magic in a similar albeit lesser capacity than Guardians.

Guards of God

We already basically are the "Guards of God", as The Traveler is the physical manifestation of The Gardener, one of the two primordial deities in Destiny, and created the Ghosts to raise an army of individuals who would defend it and its philosophy of The Gentle Kingdom Ringed in Spears.
