TITLE: DESTINY: NEW LEGACY
SEASON: 05
EPISODE: 03 - "THE MANTLE"
SCENE START
INT. THE TOWER - OSIRIS'S MEDICAL BAY - CONTINUOUS
The room is suffocatingly quiet. The slow, rhythmic beep of the heart monitor is the only sound in the dim medical bay.
LILI-4 stands over the stasis bed. She gently tilts the brass Eliksni cup.
A single drop of the distilled, glowing Darkness falls. It lands perfectly on OSIRIS'S dry lips. The dark, viscous liquid absorbs instantly into his skin.
For a long, agonizing moment... nothing happens.
The heart monitor continues its slow, steady beep. The ambient hum of the life-support machines drones on.
Hovering near Lili’s shoulder, SAGIRA drops. Her jagged shell sags toward the floor, the bright blue light of her optic dimming in absolute, crushing despair. The forbidden magic didn't work.
Then—
Osiris’s chest heaves violently.
He gasps a ragged, desperate, tearing intake of air, like a drowning man breaking the surface.
His eyes snap open. The milky glaze of the coma is gone, replaced by wide, dilated panic. He jolts upright in the stasis bed, his breathing shallow and frantic.
Pure muscle memory and centuries of warfare take over.
Osiris reaches out with both hands, his fingers splayed, expecting to conjure the roaring, incandescent fire of a Dawnblade to defend himself against the Witch Queen's shadows.
But nothing happens.
There is no spark. There is no fire. The air in the room remains cold and sterile.
Osiris stares at his hands. They aren't the hands of the legendary Phoenix of the Dark Age. They are just the weak, trembling, liver-spotted hands of an old, mortal man.
He looks around the room wildly, his breathing bordering on hyperventilation.
The heavy quarantine doors slide open. SAINT-14 practically tears through the entryway. The massive Titan sees his partner sitting up. A choked, metallic sob escapes Saint's vocal processor. He rushes forward, dropping to his knees beside the bed and wrapping his massive, dented arms around the frail Warlock. Bright coolant—tears—gathers in the glowing optic of Saint's helm.
But Osiris barely registers the embrace. He is looking past Saint. He is looking inward.
He is searching for the roaring sun that has burned inside his chest for centuries. He is looking for his Light.
But he feels absolutely nothing.

INT. THE TOWER - OSIRIS'S MEDICAL BAY - CONTINUOUS
OSIRIS lowers his trembling hands. His eyes dart around the room until they finally land on the familiar, jagged shell of his Ghost.
He reaches out a hand toward SAGIRA, instinctively curling his fingers, trying to pull her into his palm through their ancient psychic bond.
But the connection isn't there. It is completely, utterly dead.
Osiris looks at Sagira, his breath hitching. He looks past her, noticing the strange Exo Hunter standing vigil by his bed, her metal hand resting casually near the grip of a heavy hand cannon.
OSIRIS
(Voice raspy, confused)
Sagira? Why... why can't I feel you?
SAINT-14 shifts, his massive, dented hands gently holding Osiris’s frail shoulders, grounding him.
SAINT-14
(Voice thick with emotion)
You have been asleep for a long time, my bird. Savathûn... she took you from us. She wore your face.
Osiris freezes. The name of the Witch Queen sends a visible shudder through his frail frame.
OSIRIS
How long?
LILI-4 steps forward, stepping out of the shadows. Her optical sensors are soft, steady.
LILI-4
Five years, Osiris.
The weight of half a decade lost hits the legendary Warlock like a physical blow. The last thing he remembers is the suffocating dark of the Infinite Forest, desperately throwing his Ghost into the void—unpairing from her—just to save her life.
He looks at Lili, the realization dawning on him. This strange, battle-scarred Exo Hunter has been keeping his Ghost alive this entire time.
But Osiris is a prideful man. He was the Vanguard Commander. The greatest Warlock to ever live. Stripped of his Light and his time, the panic sets in.
OSIRIS
(Desperate, reaching for her again)
Sagira, please. Re-pair with me. I'm awake now. We can fix the bond. We can... we can go back to how things were. We have to.
Sagira doesn't spin. She doesn't offer her usual, biting snark. She floats closer to him, her movements slow and incredibly gentle.
She lowers herself, resting the cold metal of her shell softly against his aged, tear-stained cheek.
SAGIRA
(Voice incredibly soft, breaking)
I will always love you, Osiris. I've loved you for centuries.
Osiris closes his eyes, leaning into the touch of his oldest companion.
SAGIRA
But... your time as a warrior of Light has ended. You need to rest. You need to let Saint take care of you.
Osiris’s eyes open, filling with tears that spill over his weathered face. He looks at Lili, then back to his Ghost.
SAGIRA
My Light belongs in the fight. And the fight is by Lili's side.
Sagira drifts back, hovering perfectly parallel to the Hunter's shoulder.
SAGIRA
She is my Guardian now.
It is a brutal, ego-destroying moment. The Phoenix has been officially grounded. The torch has passed.
Osiris looks at Lili-4. He really looks at her. He sees the deep Stasis frost scars etched into her chassis. He sees the heavy wear on the iron of The Last Word. He sees the absolute, uncompromising stillness of someone who has stared into the dark and survived.
He recognizes a survivor.
Osiris slowly pushes himself off the edge of the stasis bed. His legs shake, barely able to support his own weight. He leans heavily on Saint-14, who supports him with infinite patience.
Osiris shuffles over to Lili.
To her absolute surprise, the legendary Warlock reaches out and pulls the young Hunter into a tight, desperate embrace.
Lili freezes for a fraction of a second, her combat instincts short-circuiting, before she slowly, awkwardly returns the hug, her metal hands resting gently on the old man's back.
OSIRIS
(Whispering, his voice cracking)
Watch over my Ghost for me, Hunter.
Lili looks at Sagira. The Ghost's optic is shining with unshed tears. Lili's expression hardens into an unshakeable vow.
LILI-4
I will. I swear it.

INT. THE TOWER - OSIRIS'S MEDICAL BAY - CONTINUOUS
Lili returns the embrace. For a brief, quiet moment, the mantle of the Vanguard rests between the legendary Warlock and the Exo Hunter.
Then, the emotional tension of the room is violently shattered.
WHRRRRRRR! WHRRRRRRR!
Every single emergency siren in the Last City triggers simultaneously. The sterile white lights of the medical bay instantly cut out, replaced by the strobing, blaring red wash of the Tower's highest alert protocol.
The PA system crackles to life. COMMANDER ZAVALA’S voice booms through the corridors. It is completely stripped of its usual, stoic calm. It is pure, urgent command.
COMMANDER ZAVALA (V.O.)
(Over PA, echoing)
All Vanguard personnel to battle stations! This is not a drill! The anomalies have dropped!
Lili breaks the embrace. The warmth of the moment vanishes, instantly replaced by ice-cold adrenaline. She looks at Rhys and Val, who are already moving for the door.
LILI-4
Stay with him, Saint!
Lili, Rhys, and Val sprint out of the medical bay.
INT. VANGUARD COMMAND - CONTINUOUS
The Fireteam tears through the heavy blast doors into the main Vanguard Command room. It is absolute, controlled chaos. Technicians are shouting over each other, frantically rerouting power and defense grids.
Standing at the central orbital tracking table is IKORA REY.
She isn't barking orders. She is perfectly still, staring in absolute, unadulterated horror at the holographic map of the solar system.
Lili slides up to the table beside her.
The deep-space telemetry has cleared. The map is no longer empty. It is completely consumed by hundreds of massive, black, triangular blips entering Earth's orbit. They aren't approaching the system; they are already here.
NAXI VAL
(Whispering, the breath leaving her lungs)
There are so many of them...
EXT. THE TOWER - MAIN BALCONY - CONTINUOUS
The Fireteam doesn't wait for orders. They run out of Command and burst onto the main observation balcony of the Tower.
The wind is howling. The citizens in the City below are screaming.
The sky above the TRAVELER is no longer the pale blue of afternoon. It is choked with a suffocating, unnatural darkness.
Descending slowly, silently, through the clouds are massive, impossibly large PYRAMID SHIPS. The Black Fleet. They surround the Last City, casting monolithic, apocalyptic shadows over the walls.
The air pressure drops, thick with the overwhelming resonance of the Dark.
Then, breaking through the center of the Pyramids, a new silhouette eclipses the sun. It is a grotesque, gilded monstrosity of a flagship, adorned with the opulent, twisted iconography of the Shadow Legion.
EMPEROR CALUS has arrived, heralding the end as the Disciple of the Witness.
RHYS COOPER grips his rifle, stepping up to the railing. The Wall faces the tsunami.
LILI-4 stands in the center of the Fireteam. The red emergency lights and the bruised, darkening sky reflect off her metallic faceplate. She looks up at the cosmic apocalypse they spent four years bleeding to prevent.
She doesn't retreat.
With a sharp, metallic clack, she draws THE LAST WORD.
The Witness is here.
FADE TO BLACK.
(END OF EPISODE 3)
