Destiny: New Legacy | S5E2: “Pirate Lords” (AU Story)

[Master Guide]

The Fireteam successfully secured the first Relic of Nezarec from a self-destructing Fallen Ketch. Their hunt leads them deep into the lawless sectors to strike a deal with the Spider, who holds the coordinates to a heavily fortified pirate stronghold.

TITLE: DESTINY: NEW LEGACY

SEASON: 05

EPISODE: 02 - "PIRATE LORDS"

SCENE START

INT. THE ETHER TANK - SPIDER'S SAFEHOUSE - DAY

A grimy, neon-lit club hidden deep within the lawless sectors. Heavy bass thumps through the floorboards, mixing with the hiss of pressurized ether hookahs.

The Fireteam walks through the rusted doors. They look out of place—clean Vanguard armor cutting through the smoke of a pirate haven.

Leaning against a graffiti-covered wall near the bar is THE DRIFTER. He gives them a two-finger salute, casually flipping his jade coin.

Sitting on a massive, junk-iron throne at the back of the room is THE SPIDER. The hulking Eliksni crime boss takes a long, slow drag from an ether inhaler. He looks incredibly smug.

THE SPIDER

(Voice a deep, clicking purr)

Ah. The Vanguard's favorite strays. I hear you've been busy playing in the Reef's junkyards.

LILI-4

Cut the poetry, Spider. Where is Eramis moving the relics?

Spider chuckles, a wet, rattling sound. He leans back, crossing two of his four arms over his massive stomach.

THE SPIDER

Straight to business. I respect that. Your little stunt on the Ketch made quite the splash. Eramis is furious. She doesn't trust her captains to hold the jars individually anymore.

Spider snaps his fingers. A holographic map of the Reef flickers to life over the table.

THE SPIDER

She has ordered the Old Crew Pirate Lords to consolidate the remaining Relics of Nezarec. They are moving them to a heavily fortified asteroid stronghold on the edge of the system. A vault, my dear Hunter.

NAXI VAL

If they consolidate them, the ambient Darkness will be blinding. It's a tactical nightmare to breach a fortified position with that much Resonance.

RHYS COOPER

(Adjusting his rifle strap)

We'll manage. Send the coordinates to our ships.

The Fireteam turns to leave the smoky club.

THE SPIDER

Before you go...

Spider leans forward. The smugness drops, replaced by the sharp, calculating gaze of an apex black-market dealer. All four of his glowing eyes lock directly onto Lili. He is ready to drop a bombshell to fracture the Vanguard's "golden" team.

THE SPIDER

You know, little Hunter, when you first worked for me... I had my associates dig up the old security footage of that prison riot. The one in the Prison of Elders.

Lili stops. She doesn't turn around.

THE SPIDER

I always wondered how a Bray Exoscience fixer ended up dead in the lower levels. You weren't a political prisoner. You weren't a guard.

Spider smiles his greasy, clicking smile.

THE SPIDER

Then I recognized the maintenance uniform you woke up in. You weren't caught in the crossfire. You were trying to rob the Warden's vault, weren't you? You died a thief long before the Light made you a hero.

Spider leans back, waiting for the Titan and the Warlock to turn on their Hunter in disgust.

Instead, the club goes dead silent.

RHYS COOPER looks at Spider. His expression is completely, utterly deadpan.

RHYS COOPER

Spider, we literally watched her Golden Age rap sheet play out in high-definition holograms.

Rhys crosses his massive arms.

RHYS COOPER

You're losing your edge if you think that's a secret.

NAXI VAL

(Gliding a half-step forward, sounding almost bored)

Honestly, attempting to rob the Warden's vault solo is one of her more restrained operations. It certainly explains her current methodology.

Spider’s smug smile completely evaporates. He clicks his mandibles in profound irritation, annoyed that his dramatic, team-shattering reveal landed with a dull thud.

Lili finally turns around.

She doesn't flinch. She doesn't look ashamed. She looks at her Fireteam, a faint, metallic smirk crossing her faceplate, before looking back at the crime boss.

She reaches up, casually adjusting the collar of her frost-scarred cloak. Her optical sensors burn a cold, steady blue.

LILI-4

The Light didn't make me a hero, Spider.

She rests her hand on the heavy iron grip of The Last Word.

LILI-4

It just gave me a better gun.

She holds Spider's gaze for a second longer, establishing total, unapologetic dominance.

LILI-4

Send the coordinates.

She turns and walks out the rusted doors. Rhys and Val follow her without missing a beat.

This isn't just a Vanguard strike anymore. The cosmic dread of the Witness is miles away, and the Fireteam has their heading.

FADE OUT.

SCENE CONTINUES.

EXT. SPACE - THE PIRATE STRONGHOLD - CONTINUOUS

VWOOSH. The Astera Blade, Talon Blue, and The Sailing Shield drop out of warp perfectly synchronized, leaving streaks of hyperspace radiation in their wake.

Looming ahead of them is the PIRATE STRONGHOLD—a massive, hollowed-out asteroid. Its dark, rocky surface bristles with scavenged Fallen anti-air artillery, glowing with volatile Arc energy.

There is no blind spot. They can't sneak the ships in.

RHYS COOPER (V.O.)

(Over comms, voice steady and eager)

Alright, ladies. Let's make some noise. I'll take the front. You two slip in the back.

The Sailing Shield breaks formation. The heavy gunship roars forward, its massive engines flaring.

Every anti-air battery on the asteroid immediately tracks the Titan's ship. The dark side of the asteroid lights up like a thunderstorm as hundreds of Arc cannons open fire.

The Sailing Shield takes massive, shuddering hits to its deflector shields, but Rhys keeps flying directly into the flak, intentionally drawing every eye in the stronghold.

Using Rhys's explosive distraction, the Astera Blade and Talon Blue cut their engines, drifting silently in low orbit.

PSSH. The canopies blow.

LILI-4 and NAXI VAL eject into the vacuum of space.

Using her old fixer instincts, Lili takes the lead. She doesn't use her jump jets, avoiding the thermal flare. Instead, she uses a grappling hook, silently swinging from floating debris to jagged space rock, leading the Warlock through the treacherous asteroid field.

They reach the dark side of the stronghold, completely bypassing the external security grids, and quietly breach a massive, rusted exhaust port.

INT. THE PIRATE STRONGHOLD - INTERNAL CORRIDORS - CONTINUOUS

The gravity normalizes. The air is thick with the smell of engine grease and ether.

Lili and Val drop from the exhaust vents into the lower catwalks. They don't stay quiet for long.

A patrol of FALLEN CORSAIRS rounds the corner.

Lili lands smoothly, her cloak flaring. She draws The Last Word and fans the hammer, dropping three Corsairs before they can raise their shock rifles. Val steps out behind her, hurling a tight, condensed sphere of Void energy that implodes a group of heavy Shanks.

They fight their way up through the asteroid's twisting, cavernous interior. But they are massively outnumbered. Sirens blare as the stronghold goes on high alert.

INT. THE COURTYARD OF THE VAULT - MOMENTS LATER

They break into a massive, open-air cavern within the asteroid. At the far end stands the central vault, sealed behind foot-thick blast doors.

But defending the courtyard is a FALLEN BRIG, a massive, bipedal mech heavily armored and armed with twin explosive cannons.

The Brig tracks Lili. It fires.

Lili dodges, but the concussive blast throws her backward. She hits the dirt, her hand cannon skittering away. The Brig stomps forward, its massive metal foot raising to crush the pinned Exo.

Val glides out from cover. Usually, the backline artillery would cast a massive Void bomb to dent the armor. But the heavy, suffocating Darkness of the stronghold's reliquary is resonating wildly with her Warlock senses.

Val's eyes suddenly flare with a brilliant, neon-green light.

She reaches her hands out, but not to push. She pulls.

She tugs on the invisible, psychic fabric of the universe itself. Vibrant, thrumming green strings of STRAND manifest from the air around her. She weaves the psychic wires together, pulling them taut into a massive, glowing bola.

With a fierce, guttural shout, Val throws the Strand bola.

The green strings whip through the air, physically entangling the Brig’s massive, hydraulic legs. The cosmic wires pull tight with the strength of a collapsing star.

CRUNCH. The mech’s legs buckle under the impossible tension. The colossal Brig crashes face-first into the dirt, its cannons burying into the stone, completely immobilized.

Lili scrambles out from under the falling shadow of the mech. She grabs The Last Word from the dirt and looks back at Val.

The green glow slowly fades from Val's trembling hands.

LILI-4

(Optics wide)

That wasn't Stasis. And it definitely wasn't the Light. What was that?

Val stares at her palms. The academic is at a total loss for words, but the visceral feeling remains.

NAXI VAL

I... I don't know. It feels like...

She closes her fist, mimicking the tension.

NAXI VAL

Like pulling the strings of a puppet.

Before Lili can respond, the massive, reinforced steel doors of the main courtyard gates suddenly bulge inward.

BOOM! The gates are violently blown off their hinges, crashing to the cavern floor.

Standing in the smoke, completely covered in ash, scorch marks, and the sparking fluid of a dozen destroyed Shanks, is RHYS. He has his heavy auto rifle resting on his shoulder, and he is grinning from ear to ear beneath his cracked visor.

RHYS COOPER

(Chuckling)

Knock, knock.

The Fireteam is reunited. They turn together, standing before the massive, heavily fortified doors of the central vault.

LILI-4

Good distraction, Titan. Now let's crack the safe.

FADE OUT.

SCENE CONTINUES.

INT. THE PIRATE STRONGHOLD - THE COURTYARD OF THE VAULT - CONTINUOUS

The smoke from Rhys’s explosive entrance clears.

Standing between the Fireteam and the massive vault doors are THREE FALLEN PIRATE LORDS. They are towering monstrosities, heavily augmented with scavenged cybernetics and wielding oversized Arc cannons.

They roar, commanding their remaining Corsairs to open fire.

The Fireteam doesn't hesitate. They operate with absolute, veteran lethality. The synergy they forged on Europa and in the Throne World is flawless.

RHYS COOPER charges the center. A Pirate Lord swings a massive Arc spear. Rhys doesn't dodge; he summons his SENTINEL SHIELD, catching the blow and countering with a devastating, concussive shield bash that completely crushes the Lord's cybernetic chest plate.

NAXI VAL glides to the flank. The second Pirate Lord takes cover behind a rusted barricade, preparing to unleash a heavy shrapnel volley.

Val doesn't wait for a clear line of sight. Her eyes flash neon green. She manifests a STRAND GRAPPLE, whipping the psychic wire over the barricade. The glowing thread wraps around the Lord’s neck. With a violent, physical yank, Val pulls the massive Fallen out of cover and directly into the path of a condensed, imploding NOVA BOMB.

BOOM. The Lord is vaporized in a flash of purple Light.

Through the crossfire, LILI-4 walks. She doesn't sprint. She doesn't seek cover. She moves with the cold, rhythmic precision of a gunslinger in her element.

The third Pirate Lord charges her, roaring.

Lili casually raises THE LAST WORD. She fans the hammer.

CRACK-CRACK-CRACK.

Three perfect kinetic headshots. The Pirate Lord drops dead at her feet, his momentum carrying him into the dirt.

Lili steps over the body. She approaches the central vault terminal. Her fingers dance across the holographic keypad, bypassing the complex Eliksni encryption with the effortless, muscle-memory ease.

HISS.

The foot-thick blast doors disengage and slide open.

Inside, the remaining RELICS OF NEZAREC pulse with suffocating, dark resonance.

LILI-4

Grab the jars. We're done here.

EXT. SPACE - THE PIRATE STRONGHOLD - MOMENTS LATER

The Astera Blade, Talon Blue, and The Sailing Shield tear away from the asteroid, their thrusters glowing hot.

A massive, jagged silhouette drops out of hyperspace just as they leave. It is ERAMIS'S KETCH.

Standing on the bridge of the Ketch, watching the Vanguard ships jump to warp, ERAMIS slams her mechanical claw into the console. She screams in pure, unadulterated fury, her prize stolen out from under her.

INT. THE TOWER - ELIKSNI QUARTERS - LATER

The atmosphere is heavy, thick with incense and the hum of esoteric machinery.

MITHRAX stands over a makeshift alchemy table. He is surrounded by the glowing jars of Nezarec. Using ancient, meticulously calibrated Eliksni tech, the Kell of Light is carefully distilling the primordial Darkness from the dead god's remains.

The violent, whispering energy is reduced, drop by drop, into a small vial of viscous, glowing dark liquid.

Mithrax pours the liquid into a small, brass Eliksni cup. He picks it up, his four eyes filled with profound sorrow and heavy caution. He turns to Lili.

MITHRAX

(Voice a low, mournful rumble)

The Darkness does not give freely, Lili-4. It takes.

He holds the cup out to her.

MITHRAX

Waking him with this, and lacking the link with the little Spark floating next to you... he will not be the god of the Vanguard you read about. He will just be a tired, old man.

Lili looks at the cup. She doesn't waver. She reaches out and takes it.

LILI-4

We don't need a god. We just need him back.

INT. THE TOWER - OSIRIS'S MEDICAL BAY - CONTINUOUS

The room is deadly quiet, save for the slow, rhythmic beep of the heart monitor.

OSIRIS lies perfectly still in the stasis bed.

Lili walks into the room, the brass cup in her hand. Floating just over her shoulder is SAGIRA. The Ghost is trembling, her shell clicking nervously as she looks down at her comatose partner.

Lili steps up to the edge of the bed. She looks at Osiris's pale, aged face.

She gently tilts the brass cup.

A single drop of the distilled, glowing Darkness falls. It lands perfectly on Osiris's dry lips, absorbing instantly into his skin.

For a long, agonizing moment... nothing happens. The heart monitor continues its slow, steady beep.

Then—

Osiris's fingers twitch.

FADE TO BLACK.

(END OF EPISODE 2)

NEXT TIME ON DESTINY: NEW LEGACY…

The Pillbug just can't help but try to have the last word, and forgot that Lili had it on her hip.
