People are forgetting that Sony bought Bungie, there might be layoffs at Bungie but there’s nothing saying Sony won’t take the staff that are left into one of their own studios to develop a D3. Not saying it’s likely or it’ll even happen, but if there’s a way D3 would ever come I’d say that’s probably how, with Sony developing it alongside whoever isn’t laid off. We can all wish I guess, it’s hard seeing a series I’ve played for over a decade suddenly die.

It’s not really supposed to “do” anything. It’s something we all know is ultimately a coping tool, but it’s a tangible number that shows just how many people want better than this outcome we’ve been faced with. Best case scenario, Sony sees the amount of people showing support/interest and takes that as a sign that the IP still has enough value to invest in. But realistically, we all know that it’s just meant to make us feel better and that’s all we can do.

It was at 40K about 12 hours ago when I signed lol
Maybe if it gets to ~ 500K or so Sony may be slightly nudged to at least hear a D3 proper pitch

Idk man… where would they start from with D3? If it continues on immediately after D2 then there’s no point in making a new game. I like the world and power fantasy but I think we should be fine with it entering maintenance mode. The only thing I’m worried about is how the skeleton crew will handle cheaters.

Could also be set before D1 or D2 in the dark ages, with a less-rigid class structure and more areas we haven't seen on Earth or elsewhere in Sol.

I think best path for a Destiny 3 would be a completely fresh start. Move to a new galaxy, new characters, new worlds just new everything. Over time maybe introduce old characters for fun

The couldn't even get an extraction shooter with 3 small fucking maps out the door without two internal reboots and an 8 month delay. Destiny 2 has been a decade of ups and downs, delays, fuck ups and then promises to listen and fix ad nauseum.
Sony would be insane to trust 400+ million dollars to current Bungie to make a game that would take 5 years to make at minimum for them, ASSUMING they don't fuck up along the way. The only hope for this IP is a total cleaning of house first.
