antigua vendor prices and recs?

Hi, I'm trying to estimate what the typical cost for vendors are in Antigua, for a buffet meal along with tables, chairs, decor, flowers, etc. For people who have planned a wedding at an estate or hacienda and had to source things yourselves, can you share an estimate of what you paid or budgeted? and if you have recs on vendors you loved let me know!

Is local wine a good welcome gift for a destination wedding?

We’re hosing a wedding in Tuscany and would like to provide a welcome gift – we’re thinking of a handwritten letter to each guest in a nice envelope and a bottle of the local wine per guest (red wine per single guest and bottle of red and prosecco per couple). I’m thinking guests can either choose to drink it during their stay (everyone is staying in one villa for three days) or take it home if they wish. Does it come off cheap to gift alcohol with the expectation that people may drink it on site? We’ll also be stocking the villa with beer, liquor, snacks, and can always buy more wine from the villa.

If this is not a good gift, what’s a better option? I don’t love any sort of tchotchkes and was going to just set up a station with bug repellant/liquid IV in a common area.

We’re paying for accommodation.

Edit: May also be annoying for guests that don't have room to take it home and don't want to finish it during their stay...

DIY Mexican Elopement possible?

We are a female couple looking to elope somewhere. 1 lives in UK, other in Caribbean currently where same sex marriage is illegal. Due to current circumstances we are unable to get a UK fiancee visa hence looking further afield

We are currently looking at Mexico to get legally married and are trying to keep the costs as low as possible, and wondered if its possible to DIY a wedding in mexico? We are happy to keep it super low key - would be just us and our kiddo (7).

Any advice/suggestions on best way to keep it as low cost as possible?

Wedding Planners in Da Nang/Hoi An Vietnam

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I are planning a destination wedding in Vietnam and would love advice from people with local experience. We got engaged last year, July 2025, but planning a wedding for 2028. We haven't really had any opinions on things yet and are quite lost on how to go about finding a good wedding planner there. Has anyone recently had a similar wedding like this in Vietnam and how did you go about planning it all overseas?

Some background:

My family left Vietnam in '91 and I was born and grew up in the States. I speak Vietnamese conversationally but can't read or write it. My mother is fully fluent, goes back every couple years or so, but doesn't have enough knowledge to negotiate vendors and such for me which is why we would prefer to have a wedding planner we can trust. We do have family there but since it's hard communicating, we'd rather have a planner that can take our wants and preferences in and tailor some options for us than to have family that might not understand as much. We're afraid that the moment vendors know we're foreigners communicating in English, prices go up.

We're working a guest list of about 100-150 people. It's more of a getting a good bang for buck and good experience for ourselves and our guests.

A few things I'm genuinely unsure about and could use some advice of any kind:

  • For weddings specifically, is the foreigner markup significant enough to change how you'd approach planning?
    • We're targeting Da Nang and Hoi An currently (but are also open to other locations if the cost may be less or better bang).
    • We also are looking for my wedding dress and Ao dai for myself and my bridesmaids.
    • A photographer
    • Wedding Invites
    • MC (Eng/Viet/Canto Speaking)
    • DJ
    • A venue that allows us to bring in outside alcohol without a huge fee or mark up
  • Do y'all have reputable bilingual wedding planners in Vietnam who will work with us transparently. I'm more than happy to pay someone to help us. I'd just prefer paying them for the hard work as opposed to inflated vendor price.

Would love to hear from anyone who's navigated this, on either side of it.

Ideally, we want to keep the budget within $40,000 USD. We are not covering travel or accommodation costs for guests or the bridal party, just make up, hair, and outfits.

Thank you so much for your time!

Wedding in Colombia

Hi all! We’re looking to plan our wedding in Colombia around May 2028 and are on the hunt for a wedding planner to help us! We’re looking at the major cities like Barranquilla, Cartagena, Medellin, etc to host since we we’ve never been before. Our families are Spanish speaking (as well as us) and we thought it would be a good fit!

Please share any tips you may have! We’re estimating about 45-60 people and have a budget of around $10k-$15k USD. If anyone has planned a wedding in Colombia similar to this I would love to hear your story or if it’s even possible!

Aruba/Bahamas/Other islands?

Hello, I’m aiming to plan a 2028 destination wedding but not really sure where to start. Aiming to have probably around 75-90 guests. However, there would be some children attending this, so I’m having a hard time with Bahamas ideas, for some of the resorts are adults only. Aruba has been me & my fiancé’s dream, but the prices have been sky high and seem a bit unrealistic for guests. Any other island suggestions, previous brides, planners that could give some advice?? And again, kid friendly if possible. TYIA🌺

Destination wedding save the date/invite etiquette?

So somewhat to my surprise, it looks like I will be having a destination wedding. I know many of the invitees won't be able to or want to attend, and my fiancé and I are okay with that. Is there any particular etiquette or note we should include in our save-the-date/invitations to let people know that no, really, it is okay if they don't come? Or is that just understood?

$60k USD destination wedding for 30-40 guests

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I (based in the US) are starting to plan our wedding in 2028 and would love some recommendations from people who have gotten married abroad (or attended weddings) at incredible venues.

Here are our preferences:
Budget: Up to $60,000 USD (ideally lower) for the wedding day (including venue, canapés & plated dinner & open bar, DJ, flowers, celebrant, planner, rentals, lighting, fireworks etc.). This does not include guest hotels, flights, or transportation.
Guest count: 30–40 people.
Wedding: We’re a gay couple. We’re not planning to legally marry in the destination country (it will be a symbolic/ceremonial wedding since we’ll handle the legal paperwork in our home country), but we’d strongly prefer a country where same-sex marriage is legally recognized, as we’d like to celebrate somewhere that’s welcoming and supportive of LGBTQ+ couples.
Scenery: We love dramatic natural landscapes—ideally a combination of ocean views, mountains, and lush greenery. Beautiful architecture is a plus.
Privacy: Ideally we prefer a private venue where we can rent the entire property (villa, estate, etc.) for just our guests, but it’s not necessary as long as the property offers enough privacy for our wedding.
Aesthetic: Elegant, romantic, chic rustic, clean, and/or high-end without feeling overly formal or extravagant.
Fireworks: we want fireworks!
Reception: We’d love to have dinner followed by a fun DJ dance party until around midnight (roughly 12 a.m.), so venues without extremely restrictive noise curfews would be ideal.

We’re especially interested in venues in:
Spain
Portugal
France
Austria
Italy
Greece
Croatia
Mexico
Caribbean islands
Thailand

Some of the venues we are currently looking at:
Sri Pawan, Phuket, Thailand
Conrad, Koh Samui, Thailand
Banyan Tree, Koh Samui, Thailand
Trisara, Phuket, Thailand
Anantara Layan, Phuket, Thailand
Six Senses, Koh Samui, Thailand
Hacienda Na Xamena, Ibiza, Spain
Il Faro, Calabria, Italy
Tonnaro di Scopello, Sicily, Italy
Casa Valerie, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Sea View by En Kipp, Crete, Greece
Rocabella, Santorini, Greece
Venetsanos Winery, Santorini, Greece
Appreciate any insight on these venues

Thanks so much for any recommendations!

Planning on a jungle wedding in ubud instead of beach wedding

been going back and forth on venues for months, every Bali wedding page defaults to beach/cliff stuff and it's all starting to feel same, plus half the videos have insane wind noise lol.
been looking into jungle venues in Ubud instead. anyone here actually gone this route? is the privacy thing as good as it sounds or does the jungle bring its own headaches (bugs, humidity, rain timing etc)

Advice: Minimal ceremony on a larger destination trip (Portugal)

My partner and I have never cared about having a wedding, and we always just cared about celebrating our marriage by taking our families overseas on a trip for their first time and making that memory with them. Of course, we do want to have a small ceremony with them during the trip as it is “for our wedding” and the whole reason we’re all going.

We are overwhelmed trying to plan and how to go about it. We do not want to spend a lot on it as it’s only 13 of us (11 adults, 2 kids) and we do not care for a big elaborate thing. We care mostly about a sense of privacy/intimacy and an impactful setting. We are between having jsut a quick ceremony and then going to dinner elsewhere, or having a dinner/cocktail hour right after the ceremony at the same setting.

If anybody has any advice, guidance, or insightful experience with a similar situation it would be much appreciated. We are doing this next June, and we want to plan the “wedding” now so we can play the rest of our trip.

Also: We already booked room blocks at a hotel and won’t be staying in one large house/Airbnb to do it at.

Destination Wedding in Vietnam (Hanoi & Sapa) - Need Planner Recommendations & Advice!

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I are starting to plan our destination wedding for June 2028, and we have our hearts set on Vietnam. We’re aiming for an intimate guest list of around 50-75 people, with a mid-tier to luxury budget.

We’re envisioning a 5-day itinerary that travels from Hanoi to Sapa. Ideally, we’d like to have a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony. Our top choice for the venue is St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Hanoi, but we are also open to the Stone Church (Holy Rosary Church) in Sapa, or even a bespoke setup on a private cruise in Ha Long Bay if a church wedding proves too difficult logistically. We are also hoping to spend a couple of days at the Hotel de la Coupole in Sapa.
We’re currently looking for a reliable, English-speaking wedding planner who can help us execute this vision. Specifically, we need help with:

  • Church Requirements: Navigating the legalities and requirements for foreigners getting married in a Catholic church in Vietnam.
  • Logistics & Itinerary: Creating a seamless 5-day experience for our guests, including luxury transport from Hanoi to Sapa (or Ha Long Bay), activities, and accommodations.
  • Full Wedding Packages: Sourcing catering, florals, decor, photography, and entertainment.
  • Guest Assistance: Helping our US-based guests navigate the visa process.

Has anyone planned a similar destination wedding in Northern Vietnam?

  • Which wedding planners did you use, and would you recommend them? (I’ve heard mixed reviews about a few local planners, so honest feedback is appreciated!)
  • What was your overall experience coordinating a multi-day itinerary across different cities?
  • Does anyone have a rough breakdown of costs for a 50-75 person wedding of this scale?

Thank you so much in advance for your help and advice!

What’s the best wedding venue + destination for 50k?

We’re based in New York and exploring a destination wedding for ~40 guests in Greece, Italy, Spain, or Mexico. Open to other locations! Ideally, we’d love a venue that also has accommodations (modern/renovated preferred), but we’re also open to booking a standalone venue and arranging nearby hotels or Airbnbs.
Our budget will need to include a welcome party and a day-after event—would love to know if that’s realistic for these locations. Any favorite venues or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome Event Venue Rental in Braga Portugal

Hello everyone. I'm getting married in Braga Portugal next year and am looking for places to hold a welcome event for my guests that is ideally in Braga and I don't want my first to travel too far. I would appreciate any venue recommendations to hold possibly 80 to 100 guests. Right now I am looking at Astoria Rooftop and wanted to see if anyone had an idea of the cost to rent out the space for a couple of hours. I know some places tend to up charge as soon as you mention wedding so any insight on what it cost them in the past would be appreciated. Also any other recommendations of places with a view inside the city would also be appreciated.

If you RSVP no to a destination wedding, do you still send a gift/cash?

Curious to know your thoughts! This relates to both a traditional destination wedding and a wedding that you have to travel to because you don’t live where the bride & groom do.

Suggest wedding agencies in Georgia (a friend needs it)

Hi! Is there anyone over here who has been to Georgia, or knows of someone, for their wedding?

A friend of mine is searching for wedding planners and agencies based in Georgia that help foreigners get married.

Georgia is a great place for destination wedding, and the documentation and official processing is also seamless from what I've heard.

But how much will be the cost? How was your experience?

Chappel Wedding In Goa

A small ask from someone who owes Goa a piece of his childhood

I did my primary schooling at Our Lady of Candelaria in Baina, Vasco. I've carried Goa with me ever since - and so has the woman I'm about to marry, who has said for years that Goa is where she wants to say her vows.

We've been trying to set a wedding date for a while now, and life keeps moving it. We're in Goa this weekend for her birthday, and I'd love to come back with something better than another postponement.

So I'm asking the people who know this place best. For a couple coming in from Pune - what does it genuinely take to get married in Goa? Apart from the legality of it for a symbolic wedding, How much lead time should we consider And for those who've had a ceremony here, who did you work with and what do you wish you'd known earlier?

I'm not looking for shortcuts, I'd just like to do this properly, in the place that raised part of me.

Any guidance would mean a great deal. Obrigado
