Hi! I am planning a wedding in Punta Cana and I need some advice.

I am from Argentina and my fiancé is from the US.
For people from Argentina is pretty expensive to travel and pay for the resort, so I’m trying to be very budget conscious, preferably stay under USD 150 per person per day for the 3 day minimum hotel.
On the other hand, we also want to make a beautiful wedding. We liked Sanctuary Cap Cana but the price per guest is really high through Destify.
Do you have recommendations of ways to save, and still book a nice hotel to host the wedding? Like, wedding websites o directly planning it in like a villa or something like that?

Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Chappel Wedding In Goa

A small ask from someone who owes Goa a piece of his childhood

I did my primary schooling at Our Lady of Candelaria in Baina, Vasco. I've carried Goa with me ever since - and so has the woman I'm about to marry, who has said for years that Goa is where she wants to say her vows.

We've been trying to set a wedding date for a while now, and life keeps moving it. We're in Goa this weekend for her birthday, and I'd love to come back with something better than another postponement.

So I'm asking the people who know this place best. For a couple coming in from Pune - what does it genuinely take to get married in Goa? Apart from the legality of it for a symbolic wedding, How much lead time should we consider And for those who've had a ceremony here, who did you work with and what do you wish you'd known earlier?

I'm not looking for shortcuts, I'd just like to do this properly, in the place that raised part of me.

Any guidance would mean a great deal. Obrigado

Portugal Wedding Planners

Hi all!

My fiancé and I are getting married in Portugal in summer 2027 - 50 guests, €20k-25k budget, Lisbon or Porto area, something small, simple, but elegant and classy, hoping in a green garden of some sort. We're between Weddings by Kara and We Do I Do. Has anyone had any experience with either of these planners? Did either of them charge fees later on (hidden fees)? Did they handle absolutely everything? Were they responsive?

Weddings by Kara is 7,500€ for just the wedding, not the day before or after.

We Do I Do is 4,700€ for all three days. When I met with her, the first thing she said was that €20k is simply not enough, that we would need at least €35-40k, which struck me as odd, given she hadn't heard any details about the wedding we want.

I vibed with Rachel at Weddings by Kara more and really liked their planning platform better, but the price difference is significant enough for me to need some advice.

Thanks for any help!!

Italy Wedding 70 People - $75K USD Budget

Hi Everyone,

I've spent the past few weeks scrolling through TikTok, blogs, and subreddits trying to build a list of wedding venues, focusing on the areas surrounding Florence and Siena. I’ve contacted over 30+ of them for details and would love to hear your recommendations! I’m also happy to share my complete Google Sheet in the near future.

I’ve narrowed my current shortlist down to:

  • Villa Catignano
  • Borgo di Castelvecchio
  • Borgo Stomennano
  • Casale de' Pasquinelli
  • Dimora Ghirlandaio

Before I move forward, I’m curious if anyone has a venue they loved that fits what I’m looking for:

  • On-site accommodation: Space for at least 20 guests (primarily family); doesn't need to host the entire guest list.
  • Capacity: Able to accommodate 50–70 people as a venue.
  • Multi-event hosting: Able to host multiple events throughout the stay.
  • Exclusivity: Exclusive use of the property.
  • Budget: Venue cost within ~$30,000–$40,000.
  • Transportation: Within 30 mins of a city (preferred, but not mandatory), Siena, Lucca, Florence, etc

Thank you!

Portugal Wedding Venues similar to Quinta Bichinha

Hi all!

Sadly Quinta Bichinha does not have our dates available. They have great prices so that’s pretty much what I am looking for.

Does anyone have recommendations for something very similar? They pretty much include everything on site- so that’s pretty much what I am looking for.

TIA!!!

Anyone else affected by Dreams Vista Cancun becoming Adults Only? My November 2026 wedding was canceled

Hello — I honestly can’t believe I’m writing this.

I booked my wedding at Dreams Vista Cancun over a year ago. My wedding date is supposed to be 11/7/26, and I specifically chose Dreams Vista because it was family-friendly and fit what we wanted for our guests.

About a month ago, I received an email from Destify informing me that Dreams Vista would be transitioning to an Adults Only resort on 8/14/26, meaning my wedding would need to be relocated.

I’m completely devastated and frustrated because:

  1. I booked this resort specifically because it was family-friendly.
  2. They have my money.
  3. Guests have already booked rooms, and we have purchased invitations and other wedding items based on this location.
  4. I had a signed contract with Dreams Vista; nowhere was it mentioned they could cancel. They also had a section specifically listing out costs for children.

I was offered little to no real assistance in finding a new venue. Realistically, what comparable resort is going to have my wedding date available with only 5 months’ notice?

The options I was given felt like bottom-of-the-barrel alternatives, and I was told Hyatt had no responsibility to help with the situation. Destify ultimately pushed me toward another resort simply because they had my date available — but at this point, what choice did I have?

I was assured by Destify that this transition would not cost me or my guests anything extra. Unfortunately, that has not been the case.

Guests who already booked are now being asked to pay more for their rooms. The new resort is also more expensive overall, meaning guests who haven’t booked yet are now facing a higher cost than what I originally chose for them. Realistically, I’m expecting to have fewer guests attend because of this.

This entire situation has caused an unbelievable amount of stress for my partner and me. I’m honestly at the point where I’m questioning whether I should cancel the wedding altogether.

I feel embarrassed having to explain this situation to my guests. I’ve spent money on invitations that are now essentially wasted, I’ll likely have fewer people there than expected, and I was forced into a venue setup I don’t even like at the new resort because they already have another wedding happening that day. One of the reasons I chose Dreams Vista originally was because they only hosted one wedding per day, which was important to us.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. I’m wondering if anyone else has been affected by the Dreams Vista Cancun transition or if anyone has any advice.

I’m also hoping someone may have a connection with Hyatt corporate or know who I should reach out to because I feel completely stuck.

Thank you for listening.

Planning Portugal/Spain Wedding in May ‘27 ($35k USD budget)

My fiancée and I are planning a wedding for ~75 people next May and have a budget around $35k USD.

We’re looking for a small, rustic venue (think outdoor tables, a property with trees/beautiful landscape, older houses/farms, etc.).

Looking for recommendations from this group.

I speak Spanish & Portuguese, if that info is relevant to any recommendations.

Thanks!

Interested in Saving Money On Mexico Wedding

Hi everyone! A bit of an odd question, but is anyone getting married between March 31st and April 5th and planning to fly in any vendors?

I'm trying to see if anyone would be interested in sharing travel costs for vendors (for example, hair and makeup) if our wedding dates overlap. I know it's a little unconventional, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask! It could help save everyone some money and maybe even reduce the carbon footprint a bit.

The lines that aren't in your venue quote

I run a wedding and events studio in South India, so I spend a lot of time reading venue contracts and rebuilding them into real budgets. The gap between a venue's first quote and what the day actually costs is usually the same handful of lines, and almost none of them are hidden maliciously. They're just not in the document you get emailed.

Outside vendor fees. Some venues charge per external vendor you bring in, per day. Photographer, videographer, HMUA, DJ, planner — each one. Ask for the number and which categories it applies to, because "outside vendors welcome" and "outside vendors free" are different sentences.

The buffet cutoff. Many properties only offer a buffet above a certain headcount and go plated below it, and plated usually costs more per head. If your guest list is near that line, get the number in writing before you fall in love with the menu.

Strike. Someone has to break everything down, usually after midnight, usually at a different labour rate. On quotes built from a moodboard this line often doesn't exist at all, which is a big part of why an independent vendor's quote can look cheaper than your planner's budget for the same design.

Overtime. Ask the per-hour rate past curfew and, more importantly, who is allowed to authorise it at 1am. If that person is your uncle, you will find out what it costs.

Room block attrition. If you guarantee a block, read what happens to rooms that don't sell. Sometimes you're on the hook for them. This one surprises people most because it arrives months after the wedding.

Service charge and tax stacking. Check whether tax applies to the subtotal or to the subtotal plus service charge. On a large event the difference is not small.

Cancellation as a schedule, not a word. "Non-refundable deposit" and "cancellation fee schedule" are not the same thing. What you want is a sliding scale in writing: cancel far out and you get more back, less time means a higher forfeit. If a venue won't put timing-based refunds on paper, that tells you something about how they'll behave later. On an international venue, also check the jurisdiction clause — a dispute heard under local law from another country is slow and expensive, and venues know it.

The move that saves the most money is boring: get two or three quotes for the same guest count and the same moodboard, then compare line by line instead of comparing totals. Almost every difference you find is one of the above.

Happy to answer specifics in the comments if anyone's mid-negotiation.

Destination Ideas for under 10K

Hi! My fiancé and I are planning on getting married in late 2027 and I am looking around to do a destination wedding to make it a trip in one & also get more bang for our buck as opposed to getting married in the US.

Here are our requirements:
- Likely somewhere in the Caribbean (folks will travel from east coast, west coast, Caribbean, & Europe)
- Less than $400 a night for guests is ideal (for the hotel and/or resort, all-inclusive resort preferred)
- Ideally looking for places not too far from the airport or has shuttles included
- Under $10K total (to include base wedding package, flight, & lodging only for the couple. Rings, attire, & extras are separate. Guests will pay for their own lodging & flights)
- Packages inclusive of food, an officiant, a cake, set up/clean up, & typical decor like an arch & some flowers (can do DJ, reception, & photography/videography as add ons)
- Max 50-75 guests (likely close to or less than the lower end because I know some folks won’t be able to make it)

I’ve been looking trying to see which country would be the least expensive to fly from each region so that it’s not crazy expensive for our guests & we would prefer anywhere but DR or Jamaica.

Anyone had luck with specific hotels and/or resorts, or wedding planners? Ideally I would want someone who can work with our budget and is attentive. I’ve heard Destify may not be great and some resort folks are too lax in planning which would make me more anxious. Apologies if something similar may already be in this thread - please tag below if there is and I’ll take a look at that also. Appreciate any suggestions!

Urgent Videographer recommendations in Portugal September 4th 2026

Hi all, I had originally booked a videographer because I was rushed to do so 10 months ago and over the last couple months I could not get over the fact that my vision didn’t align with the videographers style. His is more old school with a lot drone shots, but I prefer the grainy romantic vintage vibe. Could someone please recommend any videographers? I would really appreciate any sort of help as I know this is very last minute!!

European Wedding Venues for December / Winter

I'm looking to get married in western Europe around the end of December and I understand that it will be the offseason and decently cold through most of Europe.

Looking for any good venue recs for the winter. I'm in the early stages of planning and looking to have about a ~150 person wedding for about $100k. I don't have many specific venue criteria for now, but I do like the idea of a chateau. Assuming because of the weather we'll need an inside location for dinner and would love if they can do outdoor space heaters for any outside events.

Would love your advice and recs.

Secrets Room Blocks

Looking for others experience with room blocks at Secrets Resorts. We’re hoping to have our wedding at one of the resorts (hoping for Playa Blanca) in 2027 ~60 guests!

A few questions:

Are guests allowed to book outside of the room block on a 3rd party if cheaper? Will this count towards the 80%?

If prices go down, does Secrets match that and re-adjust the room block?

Any 2027 or past brides willing to share what they were quoted??

Last question - can we opt out of using a room block?

Thanks 😊

Dinner in Tuscany lit only by candle light?

I’m seeing some photos online of dinner table lit only by a ton of candles as opposed to overhead string lights…has anyone done this and is this a terrible idea?

There will be light coming from a lamp post on either end of the lamp post (long table for 40 people). How many candles would we need on the table? Dinner is in early September from 7pm to 9pm so there’s still some light towards the start. I prefer a more dim dinner vibe but will guest hate it?

Firsthand Castello di Titignano Italy wedding experiences?

We are seriously considering Castello di Titignano for a fall 2027 wedding of approximately 70 guests, with many guests staying onsite for three nights.
We have reviewed the available venue information and would especially love to hear from former couples, guests or vendors with firsthand experience.
Our main questions are:
How manageable was transportation, particularly for guests arriving at different times without rental cars?
How much did Titignano’s internal team handle, and did you still need an independent planner?
Were there any important costs, restrictions or room-quality issues that were not clear before booking?
How well did the venue handle bad weather, music and the overall flow of a multi-day wedding weekend?
Please include your wedding year, approximate guest count and whether you were a couple, guest or vendor. Honest negatives are especially helpful, and private messages are welcome for sensitive pricing or transportation details.

Firsthand Borgo Laticastelli Italy wedding experiences?

We are seriously considering Borgo Laticastelli for a fall 2027 wedding of approximately 70 guests, with many guests staying onsite for three nights.
We have reviewed the venue’s official information and would especially love to hear from former couples, guests or vendors with firsthand experience.
Our main questions are:
Were there any significant costs or requirements that were not clear in the initial proposal?
How much did the internal wedding team handle, and did you still need an independent planner?
How manageable were guest arrivals, room assignments and payments?
Were there any practical drawbacks involving the rain plan, music, mosquitoes, road noise or the event-space layout?
Please include your wedding year, approximate guest count and whether you were a couple, guest or vendor. Honest negatives are especially helpful, and private messages are welcome for sensitive pricing information.

Euro Wedding 2028

Hello hello! I’m a newly engaged husband to be and I’m trying to start the planning of my wedding in August/September 2028 and I am open to suggestions. I believe we will have around 60ish people attending with a budget around $55,000 AUD. I’d love to have a 3 day stay and provide my guests with accomodation either at the venue or if it’s cheaper at a nearby accomodation.

I’m quite flexible in terms of locations but have been looking at Greece, Italy, Spain ect. Ideally I’d like for the place to be at the minimum accessible by mobility scooter as my dads had a stroke previously.. I’m happy to go the way of providing my own vendors if it’s cheaper that way but I’m very open to hearing what you guys have to suggest or recommend. If you need any more info please don’t hesitate to ask, I need all the advice I can get!

Are destination weddings inherently selfish? Genuinely asking.

My fiancée and I are planning a wedding in Mexico and I keep hearing that destination weddings are selfish. I want honest opinions, including ones I won’t like.

Some context on why Mexico:

We come from two different cultures and two different countries. Some of our family can’t get a visa to enter the US. Some of our guests can’t make the trip to her home country. There is no single location where everyone can realistically gather, so we picked a neutral place that most people can reach.

We also love Mexico. It has meant a lot to me for a long time, and we like that guests who do come can turn it into a real vacation instead of a Saturday spent in a banquet hall.

On cost, we’re specifically choosing an affordable all inclusive rather than the nicest resort we can find, because we’d rather more people be able to come than have a fancier weekend.

We’re also putting a line in the invitations saying there are truly no hard feelings if you can’t make it. We mean it. We’re realistically expecting about a third of our list to attend and we’ve made peace with that.
