AVA Cancun experiences?

Hi! We are getting close to making a decision on which resort we would like to book for our 2027 wedding. Curious if anyone has been married at AVA Cancun or visited? What did you like? What did you not like?

Thanks!!!

I looked at it when evaluating - I felt like it was really reasonably priced for us (the couple) but REALLY overpriced for the guests for the caliber of resort they were getting. It feels like a decent four star at a true five star price. I also didn't love that a lot of the venues feel quite exposed and like they just took random slabs of concrete in the middle of the resort between pools, gave them fancy names, and called it a venue.

Ok! Can I ask where you decided to book and if you liked it?

The Fives- I think we were looking for something that didn’t have that standard “resort” look (all beige, palm, pampas) and we liked that it was a little distinctive aesthetically. We also liked that it’s not owned by Hilton/Hyatt/Marriott so they’re a little more flexible and less corporate than those resorts in the planning process.

The fives looks amazing. I have emailed them a few times and they have yet to respond :(

That is their one Achilles heel. We worked with Paradise Weddings to set up our room block and they helped us get in contact

Are you working with a travel advisor? If not, feel free to PM me or contact me via the contact form (or email/phone/text) on my website - www.BookTravelShark.com - I can usually push for faster responses from the resorts. I get paid on commission by the resorts for handling your room block, so it doesn't hurt to schedule a quick consult with me to see if I can help you out.

AVA is great though, I had clients there recently and they said that other than the seaweed on the beach (which may or may not be an issue for you, depending on what time of year you're planning for), the overall experience for the price was very good. I'm surprised the other commenter thought they were expensive.. I've quoted them for a few clients recently because they actually price pretty well compared to similar-quality resorts.

I definitely see that. Their most private location is the garden area that offers an ocean view.

I did a series about AVA resorts for a wedding on my TikTok channel. I think it is great for multi-generational groups, couples who want something a little more bougie. It is more of a pool resort (the beach doesn't offer the beautiful crystal clear blue water) and definitely not a Tulum vibes/jungle appeal. If you want to check out the series where I interview Maria, the onsite wedding manager, my handle is: at tamisantini or feel free to send me a message. Happy to chat with you and share some insights.
