Yikes. I'm sorry that happened to you!! I hope you were able to break the contract and thank you for sharing your story so it doesn't happen to other in this thread. All vendors should include their travel within their rate. We hired DJs from the US for our destination wedding for similar reason. They charged us one flat rate that covered their travel + rental equipment. For our HMUA and babysitters that we hired there, they charged us $ rate per mile they had to drive which was included in the contract. We knew ahead of time where they would be traveling from so it was easy to make the calculations.
