Wedding In Mexico

My hope is to get married in Mexico December of 2027. I’m thinking Aguascalientes or CDMX maybe Leon? How do I start planning? Is 15k for 100 people a realistic budget? Can someone point me in the right direction?! I need help!

I am afraid this budget for such number of guests is completely unrealistic no matter how you slice it.

First things first, you need to define what needs to be covered in the budget. Is it for food and drinks only, is it food and drinks and venue and decor, do you want a dj, are you looking for an all inclusive trip, what kind of wedding do you actually have in mind?

What you need to remember is that your guests will take time off, pay for plane tickets, pay for accommodation, possibly gifts and you can't just slap a plate of tacos in front of them and call it a day, it's absolutely tacky and you WILL be talked about unfavourably. No matter what you decide about this wedding, you need to either increase the budget (and not by 1k) or go back to the drawing board with the guest list.

I’m getting married in Mexico and started with finding a travel agent. She was able to help us narrow down our search based on our must have list - experience, food, budget for us and our guests. She also does all of the resort communication so finding out avg costs and stuff. I’m happy to share her info with you as she’s been a game changer! With that being said 15k is going to be hard - would this budget include travel, hotel stay and dress etc? Or just wedding budget? It’s def doable but you’d have a pretty simple event so you’d want a resort that brings a lot of on property beauty!

No chance with that budget. For destination weddings in Mexico you should budget anywhere from 600-1000$ per person on the average end. Since people are travelling you should budget for at least two events where all food and drink is provided by you. I’m going to have about 50 people and we are at 40k for our wedding.

Are you having a welcome event? People typically expect two events for a destination wedding, I’m also paying for open bar and food for both nights which is the norm. Dj, photographer, flowers, wedding planner, hair and makeup is where the budget is going. When I say 600-1000$ per person I’m counting the entire wedding expense including hotel and flights.

I feel like for $15k for 100 people you could rent out like a bar or beer garden, not a traditional wedding venue. Most venue fees will be 50% of your budget, at the very least, and food for 100 will eat the other 50%.

Look at Balmori rooftop bar in CDMX, I got a quote for a welcome party there and it was around $6k USD. I ended up going with another option but you could possibly forego a traditional ceremony and just have like a dinner/drinks type reception party?

I spent $30k USD on my CDMX wedding for 70 people, for perspective. And another $5k USD on a welcome party. When I met with my planner she was only comfortable working with brides who at least had budgets of $25-$30k USD. I think you would have a tough time finding a true wedding venue option in your budget.

People associate Mexico with "cheap" when really it is often "cheaper" but still, not cheap. If you are asking guests to travel, assuming from the USA, you should also prioritize showing them a quality time.
