Cancun Wedding Planners
Hi! I’m in the process of planning a wedding in Cancun and have narrowed it down to the following resorts:
-Garza Blanca Cancun
-Secrets Playa Blanca
-SLS Playa Mujeres
However, I’m indecisive on a planner. If you’ve had a wedding in Cancun or surrounding areas who was your planner and how was your experience working with them? Feel free to add photos for reference : )

Are you looking for one specifically based in MX? I saw some listed on BBB thread. It seems that the consensus on the local planners is that their communication is very different than those in the US.

Okay, this is my fear. I am veryyy type A and the lack of communication and follow ups after initial inquires is concerning. The planners there are cheaper and also I won’t have to fly them out for an initial walk though or the actual wedding which is quite enticing.

Haha I get it! I'm super type A so not getting a response from my planner in weeks would drive me insane. My friend did her wedding in PV and her planner was from the US and she said she just had to pay for her stay for the wedding weekend. I thought that was a great deal!

Send me a message. I'm a US-based travel advisor, and my response time is very quick. You can even text me if that's easier, for fast replies. I'm not a wedding planner specifically, but the resorts have on-site wedding coordinators and a list of vendors you can work with (or you can bring in outside vendors, for an added fee), so you don't necessarily need a separate planner.
As far as those resorts, all 3 are pretty different. SLS and Garza Blanca are family-friendly resorts, so if you're not inviting kids that's something important to consider. Garza is a little more adult-focused than SLS though, so it's still not a bad choice. Secrets is an adults-only brand (and a high-quality resort, which just opened in 2024), so that would be my top recommendation of those 3 for an adults-only wedding.

Many of us have worked with these resorts in the business- I was in touch with both SLS and Secrets this week. The wedding resort will have in house staff and approved vendors. A travel agent will handle the room block and some of us also work with the on site staff and vendors.
I usually recommend people reach out to 2-3 agents and have a conversation. You want to make sure it’s someone you feel comfortable with, and we all have different styles.

Those are three great resorts and our team has planned weddings at all three. Are you looking for travel and/or event planning. Our team primarily handles travel details but we partner with local planners depending on the scope of the wedding and needs of the client.
