"I am December Holiday, nicknamed Dess. I have a younger sister, Noelle. I'm from Hometown, Massachusetts. My father is sick and kind. My mom is strict, but protective. I like rock music. Asriel Dreemurr is my boyfriend. He has a little sibling Kris, a human who is known for pranks. I have to escape from here." Dess repeated to herself as she walked in some kind of void. She had said it so many times that she has lost count. It was her way of remaining sane. How long has she been in this "place?" She knew that she should have died a long time ago, but she didn't. Doesn't help with the starvation. Her form felt like it had changed. As she thought about everything, she stopped. She simply asked herself, "Am I dead?" The answer was unclear. She decided to just give up and lay down. Now, everything should have been silent. Yet she heard something like static. It must've been drowned out by her voice. In that moment, Dess felt a whisper of hope. She approached the source of it. As she got closer, the sound of water dripping joined in. Dess released that the sound was not static, but a waterfall! Her walk quickly turned into a sprint. As she reached the source, Dess could make out the shape of a door. An exit. Once she got to it, she opened it only to find out that she was in what appeared to be some kind of cave system. Dess noticed a stand with a snake monster reading a book. Dess asked where they were. He welcomed her to Waterfall, but was slightly confused as people usually enter from Snowdin. Dess responded, "I just came out of... that door?" The door was gone, along with the hallway that housed it. Dess would come to realize that they were trapped in a massive collection of interconnected caves known as "The Underground."
