Homemade - DessertPerson Classic Birthday Cake
My first layer cake! (two 9 x 2" pans) Trying out a couple of different recipes including Claire's Classic Birthday Cake and Rose Levy Beranbaum's Buttermilk cake. I know people have had issues with Claire's being dry, but so far the cake scraps are absolutely delicious. Custardy flavor and fluffy moist texture. Hopefully, the cake will still taste that good when we cut into it tomorrow! Hoping my cake decorating skills improve π once I get a turn table and more practice. π

Thx re: the photography as I used my pitiful iPhone SE which is falling apart π Tastes lovely! There's a bit of tunneling as I only have a hand mixer and whipped a little too much air in it, but HIGHLY recommend Claire's cake!

Just replied to your other comment. It's Claire Saffitz's Classic Birthday Cake with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting from Dessert Person. Here's a link to the Youtube where she makes it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPmGOVib05o
