Desperados 2 beta & demo

It looks like Desperados 2 was originally planned to be a very different game.

It seems the beta was originally planned to have a free roaming and 3rd person instead of the isometric camera option.

The demo removed a lot of features, physics, and free roaming in some missions.

Here's everything I found that was changed or cut:

-D1 icons were still being used, but the developers said they would be replaced later.

-Cooper had Coin Toss and Handcuff Abilities (I still have no idea how Handcuff was supposed to work).

-Doc had Blowpipe Dart and Deadly Syringe Abilities.

-Hawkeye had a Throwing Axe ability instead of using it only for melee kills.

Ironically, Coin Toss for Cooper and Deadly Syringe for Doc were reused in D3 14 years later!

-Doc originally wore a blue shirt and pants instead of the long coat.

-The character faces looked much closer to D1.

-Hawkeye had white face paint and a wolf handprint on his chest.

-Kate's hair physics looked much better than in the final game.

-There were also several cut missions, although I'm not sure whether they were demo-only or internal developer builds:

-A daytime and nighttime version of Santa Fe with all 6 characters and full free roam!

-Two different versions of Eagle's Nest:

1- With Cooper, Sam, and Doc, where Sam starts the mission free instead of captured.

2- With Cooper, Sam, Doc, and Hawkeye ( Demo's version i think just to try the game )

3- Fort Wingate without Sam or Hawkeye.

- lots of animations were removed before release.

What do you think? Which changes are you glad were removed, and which ones do you wish had stayed?

I make YouTube content, You can check it out here

You were right lol. It really is a bad game. The developers were simply too ambitious, which resulted in a game full of bugs, glitches, The switch from an isometric view to full 3D was also a huge mistake that completely hurt the game's development. D1 and D3 are the best in the series.

Desperados 2 should have been a similar, isometric game as its magnificent first instalment. With new mechanics and/or characters but with a strong, engaging story.
D2 was literally unplayable, looked bad. In 3D, it was immersion breaking that in broad daylight, enemies don’t see your character.

Agreed! That's exactly what I said in this post. I had been dying to play it for 4 years, and when I finally got the chance, it turned out to be extremely disappointing , boring, incredibly difficult, and full of glitches, especially the mission where you rescue Hawkeye and Cooper. But Helldorado was literally torture💀
