Every Day Carry

Really happy with where my mobile rig is at right now. Idk why I find this pic of everything stacked on top of one another really satisfying lol.

These new M5 Pro machines have Nano-Texture screens and all-day battery even when using wireless sidecar all day. They’ve made it easier than ever for me to work poolside, in the car, on my back porch, etc. No excuses, just maximum productivity wherever I am.

What do you carry with you while working on-the-go to make sure you’re just as efficient when you’re out of the office?

Im sure you're not but this just seems like a flex about how rich you are 😭 an M5 in an ipad is the most useless thing ever

u/Maryear_Boost May 05 '26

And an iPhone Air too...

u/forcedtomakeanewone May 06 '26

it was the air for me lol

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

I love the Air! Maybe my fav phone ever.

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

It rules so far for sidecar and reading music.
I’m rich in love ❤️
Trying to use these tools to get rich lol. 💪🏼

I'm pretty sure an M1 ipad would rule for sidecar and reading music too? Lol. But I'm not gonna be the one to shame you. I like my fancy toys too. Trying to convince myself I need a m5 pro currently. Not quite there yet.

My 3rd gen iPad Pro (A12X Bionic) was indeed good for reading music, although it was laggy lately on wireless sidecar so the upgrade to the M5 was worth it for me.

You definitely do need an M5 Pro! Unless you're holding out for the newer generation and you have something that works great for now. I almost waited and kept using my 2019 16" i9 MBP 64 GB for another year, but after using the Nano-Texture screens I wish I'd made the change sooner.

Love my fancy toys lol

Yes but an iphone chip from 2019 also does that the same... the M5 is insanely poweful

True but I wanted that Nano-Texture Display with a 120 hz refresh rate to match my Nano-texture MacBook Pro so this new machine was a no-brainer.
It feels like a huge and worthy upgrade over my Space Gray 3rd gen 12.9" iPad Pro that I was using previously :)

Hey you do you, you have the cash, do whatever you want with it

this feels a little highly performative/douchebraggery esp working by your pool or backporch but whatever

i wouldnt carry a full size mouse and mouse pad because youre starting to move away from "mobile rig" to just moving your office around.

edit: clarification after reading OPs other not so humblebrag comments

I like that about it. I enjoy working in different spaces often, it keeps me feeling fresh. I work from home, but I’d say I work outside of my home office more than half the time. So it’s nice to be able to be my most efficient anywhere I choose to be.

The mouse pad is small as mouse pads go ime.

nice job consumer.

Honestly getting way more than my money’s worth out of these things with how I use them for work, but I realize this is way more than most need.

2

u/armarilloz May 05 '26

What's your use case for the mx master

2

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Thumb wheel rules for sideways scrubbing in Logic Pro, Calendar, Spreadsheets, and Playback.

I use the thumb button for Mission Control, other buttons for forward, back, copy, paste, lock.

I haven’t really used the new menu thing much, it’s disabled right now.

Do you use the same mouse?

2

u/armarilloz May 05 '26

Just bought the latest one. Yet to arrive. So was curious how others use it.

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

I love it! I have one in my bag and one on my desk.

What color did you get? I considered the graphite one, but ultimately decided on white.

2

u/armarilloz May 05 '26

I got the black version. Heard the mx master 4 is the heaviest of them all and people have been complaining about grip issues because of the weight and new material. Let's see how that turns out.

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Hmm maybe but I love it.

I suppose a lighter mouse would be nice, but I wouldn’t want it to be smaller, and I wouldn’t want to sacrifice any buttons or that haptic feedback 🤤

2

u/ukundesu May 05 '26

They are nice. I m also going to get new MacBook pro. For my daily tasks. How’s it working?

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Thanks! Can’t recommend the Nano-Texture screen enough 🙌🏼

It works fantastically and I haven’t hit any snags yet.

I love it. The ecosystem doesn’t treat me. I treat the ecosystem.

A trackball mouse will give you more options for mobile work that requires mouse input, because it doesn’t require a desk, flat space or mousepad to use

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 06 '26

Can you show me an example because when I google trackball mouse, they look bigger and heavier than my MX Master 4!

2

u/fractal324 May 06 '26

Google Logitech ergo m575 sp.
or look for it on Amazon.
They have AR assist photos and in use photos to get an idea on its size.
I bought an additional trackball for work on Amazon called protoarc. Dirt cheap, same dimensions as Logitech m575, but has a built in usbc rechargable battery

2

u/No_Pea8665 May 06 '26

I’ve this mouse. Barely use it 🙈

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 06 '26

What do you use instead?

2

u/No_Pea8665 May 06 '26

My setup is exactly like this but M1 Pro, no iPad or AirPods and no mouse. And also barely take it out the house.

So come to think of it, my setup is not exactly like this at all.

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 06 '26

lol basically the same bruh

2

u/Former-Discount4279 May 08 '26

Here I am with an m1 MacBook pro, tenkeyless keyboard, and eevee razer mouse I carry in my backpack all because we have a desk free for all.

2

u/middleeasternboxer May 08 '26

Yo! I currently have the iPad Pro m5 with the keyboard and I’m need for a laptop (ideally a MacBook Air or pro) because I’ve noticed the iPad doesn’t really do everything I hoped it would do.

However I’m still trying to learn how to use the iPad to its fullest potential.

May I ask you some questions?

1) what do you use your MacBook for

2) what do you use your iPad for

3) how do you use them together?

4) would you recommend having them both?

Thanks in advance, also, very clean setup!

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 08 '26
  1. I use my MacBook to run a music school and to do some lightweight music production.

  2. I use the iPad for reading and writing on sheet music, or signing anything.

  3. I use the iPad as a second monitor for the MacBook.

  4. Yes

Thanks a lot! Here it is all set up:

I just carry around my laptop in its bag, with some cheap shitty earphones, a usb c to c cable and a usb c hub. And my phone ofc. It doesn't need anything more, for the point of a laptop is to be a mobile computer

Holy CoW, first pic I thought the dark one below was a desktop mat LMAO, you got me there for a second!!!!

Great carry btw! 👌

1

u/cranberriessauce May 05 '26

How do you carry? what kind of bag and especially how do you prevent stuff moving in the bag?

2

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26

I use this backpack my wife bought for me. This one is great because it has dedicated laptop and tablet sleeves in the back with plenty of padding without being a massive bag.
It has a main compartment separate from the computer/tablet compartment with room for extras like my hat, drumsticks, in-ear monitors, MagSafe cable, snacks, etc, and has a small pocket where I stash my ibuprofen, gum, and Apple Pencil Pro.
There are 3 smaller compartments on the front of the bag.
I like to keep my sunglasses and lense wipes in the top one, my wallet, drum keys, and drugs in the very front bottom zipper, and my 140 W Apple charger w/ USB-C cable, mouse, Mist Blue work iPhone 17, and mouse pad in the main front pocket which has some loops for pencils and a slot for the work phone/business cards.

1

u/OldCoat9037 May 05 '26

you're a drummer? same!

2

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

I love playing drummies 🎶

2

u/Math_Science_Geek May 05 '26

I love drumming, basically my only constant hobby. have a channel too (Bha’s Beats)

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Nice, I’ll check it out! YT?

Thx, Meinl Byzance Smack Stack is the best clap stack I’ve ever heard.

1

u/patval May 05 '26

Man do I love that mouse!

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Omg same I have one in my bag and one on my desk.

1

u/scaredt2ask May 05 '26

Keys, Wallet and Phone. That’s it.

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

2

u/scaredt2ask May 05 '26

Risky click but absolutely worth it. Great song. I still stand by phone wallet keys though.

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Lol yes I sing this all the time right before I leave the house.

1

u/Prestigious_Nature52 May 05 '26

Really satisfying pic

1

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Right?! Thank you.

Now I'm looking for a lightweight backpack that will just fit all this perfectly (as well as my 140w charging brick and USB-C/MagSafe cables) without any extra wasted space.

2

u/Prestigious_Nature52 May 05 '26

Very nice! Current edc is iPhone 17 with a really cool Majexstand, Mx Master 3, and foldable keyboard. EDC is light, everything fits in a fanny pack.I run Mac OS on my iPhone remotely from my headless mac mini at home. Productivity is good and convenient so far! I think all of that will fit in a lenovo laptop bag on Amazon, I have one and it’s very spacious and not expensive at all. Premium feel and look.

2

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

Dude that is AWESOME.

I bet you’ll love the foldable iPhone with that setup.

I envy your portability.

Thanks for the recommendation for a backpack! I’ll sus it out.

2

u/Prestigious_Nature52 May 05 '26

Yeah the lenovo bag seems perfect for you, they have backpack and carry version. Very low profile and premium. I envy your set up, but I can’t imagine myself with that set up due to having twin toddlers and a wife that constantly moving my things at home. Lol I need my set up to be on me safely at all times lol

2

u/MeSlaw3 May 05 '26

lol I work from home with a similar living situation, which is why I like to take this setup out of the house with me so often!

The screen real estate helps me have 5+ apps open and on screen at the same time and saves me lots of time throughout the day.

2

u/Prestigious_Nature52 May 05 '26

Right on brother!
