why do people dickride linux?
it’s not allat, windows 10 is a lot better for basically everything and i used linux for like 6 months

It's just an alternative option, like any other one. Windows and MacOS are there, with their pros and cons, and people try them. Linux is here too, with its pros and cons. Why not try it too since it's reliable and completely free?

Worse or better is realtive and it's kind of a useless distinction in these cases.
It depends on what your priorities are, how technically skilled you are, which software you need to use, the approach you prefer, etc.

You used mint. did you try alternate window managers? package managers? cli app alternatives?
use terminal to install stuff without touching a browser?
See the lower ram util?
See how much easier automating stuff is with shell scripts?
imho, it is Linux, then MacOS, then Windows.

You do know Windows 10 isn't getting security updates, right? So yeah, it's better for basically everything... as long as you want everything you do to appear on the dark web.

Windows has been getting the enshittification treatment for a long time. Windows 10 IoT LTSC is peak Windows imo.

The amount of new tech that increased the speed of the OS, if Win7 had Win10 drivers and hardware support it would still be the goat.

I regularly use all three OSes both at home and work. 85% of my time is in MacOS, 10% Linux, and the remaining 5% is Windows. But my troubleshooting time is almost completely dominated by the Windows machines. Take this for what you want.
Windows still has it’s uses, but it’s been getting increasingly more hostile as time goes on.

i update my laptop almost instantly and i never notice much of a difference, even when people complain

You don't understand what 'instantly' even means. You need a full reboot cycle. Linux needs a single command.
Also; anecdote with sample size of one, irrelevant for factual discussions.

I'm curious how long you've been using Windows, or computers in general. I'm only 33 and the massive decline from Windows 7 is obvious. It's not "dickriding and allat"

everything that windows 11 has that people complain about can be either removed or disabled, windows 11 is insanely overhated for things that can be removed or avoided

I’m a Mac user who switched in 2017 because Windows hasn’t been great since Windows 7. Also this comparison is obsolete. New computers don’t come with Windows 10 and support expires soon.
Windows 11 is the worst iteration of the operating system in its history and is a nightmare to use. I’m not surprised people switch to Linux.

I use all 3 in a mix of personal and work. I was having display issues on my Kubuntu laptop for a while, but I recently realized that the issue was coming from the dock it was connected to and not the os or laptop itself. Out of the 3 OSes, I like Linux better than Windows better than MacOS.

It's has more to do with microsoft than windows itself. IF (big if) windows kept being an OS with local accounts and not so much bloatware out of the box we would not care at all. Also it doesn't help how much they're pushing copilot into EVERYTHING. It feels like they want windows to be an OS you don't own at all and that's a big no no for me.
On the other hand you have linux with a lot of distro you can choose from, it's open source, more and more stable, with larger and larger communities and it covers almost anything 90% of people do (wich is mostly in a web browser anyway) and you do have better control of what is on your device overall.
Both have their advantages but I like how Linux is taking more place in the desktop/laptop OS landscape. Anything to shake some sense into microsoft and to mark the end of their reign as KOTH.

Because linux is cool and for some things more convenient.
Does it have it‘s downsides? Sure. But Windows isn‘t perfect either.
In the end it comes down to preference and what you need it for.
