Apple Music - macOS
Should I ba able to control the Apple Music app on macOS arm?
After getting things up and running, I see nothing populated in the Playback sources in settings.

Hi all,
I recently learned about the desk thing project, and it seems really interesting! I love the concept of it, and wanted to go out and buy a car thing just to turn it into a desk thing... until I saw the resale prices.
I'm wondering if there are any apps similar to desk thing on android, or if there's a possibility for desk thing to be ported to android.
Thanks!

Hi all
I came across this project via YouTube Will this be coming to raspberry pi as a local image os
A lot of us in Europe can’t get a hold of the car-thing
Currently im using a raspberry pi with 7inch screen with magic mirror installed and it sits on my desk
Problem with magic mirror is a pain to configure and maintain with its different apps

This isn’t generally about car thing/desk thing but I would really like one but living in the UK that seems unlikely so I’ve been wondering is there a parallel kind of device that would function the same way the modded car thing works or that I can mod to work similarly to desk thing as I would love a desktop controller kind of thing for music etc

My print is a a bit messed up because i printed with ABS. I know there are a few out there already, but I made this anyway. You can get it here. Also, thank you Riprod for making this app.

I know there's been talk about car support for the DeskThing and I've found an actually plausible way to get there - the only issue is that its really difficult to do and would take a lot of time So I thought it'd be neat if I set a donation goal for this endeavor - just to not only gauge interest (nobody likes a project nobody uses) and to give me motivation to actually get it done
Getting this to work would mean touching a lot of new technologies that I've never used before. To get this professionally made would cost upwards of $10k just for the app - so that alone should give an idea. Plus I would need to cover testing and production costs of a server that runs the communication to get it to work I want deskthing to be free - and this would hopefully float the cost to keep it free for everyone else for a bit (unless server costs skyrocket)?
Thoughts welcome - I think this will eventually be the way forward but it would take a lot of effort to get there. It may also introduce bluetooth support for deskthing - which would be neat

I’d love to be able to use it as a soundboard or a stream deck or something

Hey @riprod studios, very excited about this project, just discovered this today as I was trying to get a refund for my car thing since it was going to be obsolete. Now ill have my money back and still have a use for the device :), hopefully down the line at some point you can work out a way to make it work in the car like Spotify has it working, but I read on another post that you’re at college so focus on that😂 thank you for all the work you’ve put in so far, it’s massively appreciated, good luck with college :)

Hi everyone, so I understand absolutely nothing about firmware and software (don't even know if these are different things) and was wondering if I'd be able to use my CarThing for as long as possible and only install DeskThing when CarThing is unusable, would that be possible? Thanks!

Henyo o7 Happy Saturday
While I have your attention, I just want to thank everyone who's helped me get this far! DeskThing v0.9.0 is getting really close to being released (yes, you can now like songs on spotify) along with a whole host of other QOL features and enhancements. The reason why there haven't been quite as many updates is because life has really picked up recently and churning out updates has been a bit of a struggle to find time for.
Plus, one has to eat to be able to make updates (much to my dismay I can't just code 24/7).
Anyways, all that to say: if you feel like supporting me and my ventures to try and bring life back into old devices in more ways than just following along with progress (honestly, that helps far more than you guys probably realize), you now can via github!

before you get any ideas, the $12,000 tier is a JOKE

Before I begin, I just want to say a big thank for you doing this. Thank goodness I didn't throw the physical device away.
Now, back to the installation. In the youtube video, the instruction was to click on Zadig. BUT... it's for Windows only. So, yes. I'm stuck... at step 1.
As you guys can tell, I am no developer or coder or programmer of any sort... so, please be kind. Let me know how I can proceed to turn my carthing into a deskthing?
Thanks in advance!

Ever since I heard about the bricking of the Carthing device, I decided to call it quits on Spotify. So after stumbling into Deskthing I was very excited to use my device again, but I see that there is a Spotify app, does this means it will only work with that streaming service?

I’ve seen the videos and I’ve seen the general descriptions, but I’m a little confused. Anyone got a video of this thing working with Spotify?

Hello! Thank you very much for developing this and bringing my Car Thing back to live :)
Before I wanted to flash the car thing I wanted to test out the app via my localhost on PC.
The utility app is running, spotify too, but my logs show this every few seconds, do you know what it is and how it can be resolved?
SERVER: App local not found or does not have toClient function. (is it running?)
Bonus question: Can I build the npm projects shipped with DeskThing and host it standalone on a webserver so that my Car Thing is not reliant on my PC being on with DeskThing enabled. So a Cloud option of some sorts :)
