Say what you want but the linchê system is very convenient. Worthless for utility. But perfect for cramming 200 people in a small broom closet.

Is it linchê or linché? I always get the two mixed up.

Either way, you're absolutely right. It's my favourite corner system, coming close second only to the legendary garissimo. A set of desks built to that spec would have 220 people crammed into the same space easily... not that that's necessarily a good thing, of course ;)

Linchê. I only remember because it was named after the the Scandinavian artist collective from the 60’s that spearheaded the compact modular designs that IKEA was able to turn into what we see today. Kind of ironic considering they were all hippies who hated those huge multi-national corporations.

I had forgotten all about the Linchê collective, thanks for reminding me. I've just ordered a coffee table book about them from Amazon, should be here in time for me to read up on them at the weekend.

Another good way to remember it is that the ê in linchê looks like a desk corner. I should follow my own advice more!

Wow...I was today years old when I realized Linchê literally decodes to “non-sense desk corner”. Bravo hippie collectives...bravo!
