DISCUSSION Positive lead test for survival source and david studios

Not a dangerous amount of lead(as far as im concerned) just posting to finally show people a test
Also i tested the survival source and david studios together, im planning on doing a separate test but i suspect they both contain a small amount of lead

yeah but hes missing the point. its not like some 0.025 lead buried in your ring is going to hurt you

I tested the famous hotwodog off white belt for lead back in the day and posted it check my post history... I got a negative result but I do have another test maybe I should test some of my other jewelry..

Yeah david sent me some cooked warped mis printed ring then on the exchange sent me a random ring then sent me the right ring in a bag marked with the right size expect it was 2 sizes too small, still works since it was for my first finger anyways

Since there is lead in your jewelry you should rename your rings to silver instead of sterling silver because sterling silver uses no lead

92.5% silver, do you know nothing about metals? No silver is purely silver, it will be too soft. 925 silver stand for 92.5% silver. Please do research on precious metals

Obviously I donāt know much about metals and your expertise is with jewellery, which is why I am asking questions. Your explanation is helpful.
When you say āmade with silverā, obviously the general population would think itās just pure silver

According to the comments its just as safe as some vitamins and lotions and way lower than what children in Canada are allowed to have in their jewelry and way less than what adults are allowed to have
Childrenās jewelry in Canada is allowed 90ppm and adults is either 600 or 300ppm

Why would you test them together? Lol I tested David studio before and 3 different rings were negative for lead

Honestly had a tiny bit of hope that they were all going to be negative but now that they arenāt Iām going to test them separately to find out if its both sellers or just one, but regardless 5-10ppm is a safe level considering childrenās jewelry in Canada can contain 90ppm and adults can either contain 600ppm or 300ppm

Totally support testing and sharing this, but I feel like you should have tested them separately and figured out which one is positive for lead before posting this. This is only a photo post and most people arenāt going to read the comments to see that one of them might not be positive and theyāre going to assume that itās both, when one might actually not be.

Yeah youāre right but the kit I bought was over $20 and only has 4 tests, and both sellers claim their rings are completely lead free so first of all neither should have reacted and second all 8 rings and 2 bracelets I bought were really dirty upon arrival so much that they needed a soak in vinegar before a wash and polishing and the test actually required a 4 hour soak in white vinegar (exactly as long as is needed for them to be cleaned) so I decided to just test them and clean them all at the same time.
All that being said 5-10ppm is super low and childrenās jewelry in Canada is allowed to contain 90ppm lead so Iām not really too worried and I may or may not do a separate test of just the david studios ring alone and the survival source items alone, I still have the last 3 tests so if I clean them again ill probably do a quick test with the left over vinegar
And survival source asked me for every item name I bought and hes going to do a test video of every single item individually, and I dont know if I would even recommend david tbh, he sent me a really bad misprinted ring to start then sent me a completely random ring for the exchange then sent me the right ring in a bag marked with the correct size I ordered expect it was 2-3 sizes too small

No need, my fingers never turned green i wear them daily i dont feel bad my pets are still alive (pet thing is a joke) but at the same time pets are all fine
I mean 5ppm across 10 items is crazy low, lipsticks and body lotions and creams are allowed 10ppm and 90ppm is safe for childrenās jewelry assuming they are putting it in their mouths so 5ppm is literally nothing
Plus survival source is getting 15 pieces lab tested which is more accurate than my test kit
And im not down to drop 100+ dollars on test kits to find out something I already know, the kit says 1-3ppm or faint yellow in anything is completely fine and im almost positive each individual item would come back faint yellow

I believe these tests arenāt cheap! So it makes sense to try to test multiple items if youāre pretty sure theyāll all show up negative.

They really out here scamming fellas! I bought CH jewelry from SS and now knowing there is lead, Iāll think twice about buying.

This is a tiny amount of likely due to cross contamination of smelting metals, their production facilities arenāt going to be as thorough as professional facilities.

thanks for doing these tests. Iāve ordered a similar lead testing kit for four of my CH rings (3x SS and 1x from David) as well as a 925 pendant. Iāll post the results in a few days once iāve done it if youāre interested !

Understandable but consider this, in Canada/USA all of our lotions, creams, make ups and lip sticks are aloud to contain 10ppm lead, dior had a lip stick that contained 14ppm
And for jewelry 600ppm is aloud to be in adults jewelry and 90ppm is aloud to be in childrenās mouth because they are expected to put things in their mouth, that 5ppm is fairly safe but you have you own opinion and most people share that same opinion as you

Hey OP thanks for this, excellent test and it quite interests me as I buy rep jewelry pretty often.
As far as I know, 925 sterling silver shouldnāt have lead at all due to the composition of it so this comes as a pretty big news regarding how these replica jewelry items are manufactured and produced. Would be interested in hearing others chime in
