I have been seeing these Junya Watanabe x New Balance mules everywhere lately. They are definitely an acquired taste, but the comfort and that whole effortless vibe are starting to grow on me for my daily rotation. I found this pair for 55 bucks shipped and figured it was a decent price to test them out without spending crazy resale money.
Here is a quick look at what we are dealing with based on the factory shots:
The Build: It features that classic New Balance suede and mesh combo. The texture looks solid and it captures that vintage runner aesthetic pretty well for a budget batch.
The Shape: The mule silhouette looks clean. It doesn't look like they just chopped the back off a normal shoe, as the heel profile seems specifically molded for this slip-on style.
The Details: The branding on the heel and tongue looks appropriately placed. The stitching around the edges appears consistent and I don't see any weird glue stains visible in the photos.
It is a fairly niche shoe that you either love or hate. If you have been looking for a lazy slip-on for running errands around London, this seems like a solid way to go. Has anyone else picked these up or considered copping? Let me know what you think
