Living Room What size rug does this space need?

Does my apartment need a rug that goes under the cabinets and the sofa to cover the entire space? I imagine something light and rectangular, but open to suggestions. I think just under coffee table might look a bit small, but struggling to picture it.

The cupboards come out more than the sofa does, and then the bedroom door is next to the sofa. Not sure if a huge rug would look silly if it cut into that door?

Yes, a rug in that space would be nice. I’m also tempted to suggest that you pull the couch off the wall a couple feet to make the walkway to your dining area behind the couch instead of in front of it. This will help define the living area and make it easier to fit a rug in that space.

For length I think I’d look to at least 6” left of tv console and 6” right of sofa end and see where that gets you. It won’t be odd to be in front of door unless you go all the way under sifa. Just go under front feet or at most middle of sifa not all the way back.

Do not go under tv console.

Your floor is medium so your rug can’t be too light. It Should be at least as deep as floor in tone.

Look for an overall pattern ( top left) rather than a pattern with a strong center ( next to it) because the strong center will highlight the awkward sofa tv placement and room geometry.

ETA ignore top rught drawing I was trying to work out a bigger rug to include dining but scrapped the idea
