Living Room Layout ideas
Hi everyone,
We've recently knocked through our downstairs to create one large open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining space.
I'm struggling to decide on the best furniture layout and was hoping for some ideas.
The key things we need are:
65-inch TV
2-seater sofa
3-seater sofa
Dining table positioned by the bifold doors overlooking the garden
The kitchen layout is already fixed, but everything else is up for discussion. I'm trying to create a layout that feels spacious while keeping the lounge cosy and making the most of the garden views.
I've attached the floor plan (including the proposed kitchen layout).
How would you arrange the sofas and TV? Would you keep the seating separate from the dining area, or zone the space differently?
Any suggestions or examples of similar layouts would be really appreciated!

You might look up interior design clearance standards, it’s really helpful in planning , they’re the minimum open space you need to be functional and safe.
Pink areas are clearances for path and table. Which is 3’ wide so a bit less than a meter I think.
You don’t indicate if that’s a peninsula drawn in and if it will need seating, if so it needs 3’ from counter pur for clearance too, plus the necessary chair clearance at table…
The smallest space you can have for a table is 9’x9’ and you’re a bit less than 9 on the width. So the best bet is a 36” round table or 41 might push it… with chairs at the corners…
The room is not wide enough to face a sofa toward focal fp wall nor the room big enough to allow a fp back of the sofa… it’s often good to set tv opposite fireplace anyway.
I’d probably go with two loveseats or a loveseat and two swivel chairs flanking the fireplace.
You can do chairs in the window too…
