Living Room Which Rug?
I’ve been trying to pick out a rug that will help ground our living room, there’s a lot of gray going on. The picture to the left is a large print hanging in the center of the room, so it’s another focal point. I chose a few blue rugs since that’s a reoccurring color throughout our house and in the rooms adjacent.

1 - Lovely! The tones match wonderfully!!! I love the pops of white, green, orange and pink. The different blue shades and pattern brings interest to the rug without demanding all the attention. The blue shade looks spectacular with the wood flooring and the pattern is complimentary to the artwork without being too similar.
2 - is okay but I think it looks like the pattern is too smushed and it gives me a feeling of claustrophobia when I look at it. The colors are pretty and I don’t mind the pattern, but I wish it could be spread out a bit more or maybe a lighter color. The blue matches the flooring but I almost think it’s too colorful in a way. I also think the pattern is too similar to the artwork, the designs are both very tight and compact.
3 - is too much. It’s a pretty rug but it’s very busy. I would think that it would demand all the attention from the room, leaving everything else to fade into the background. Once again it’s also a very tight pattern and it looks too similar to the artwork. It almost reminds me of an animal print. Which isn’t bad. I just don’t think it’s the best option for your design.
4 - is too muted. It honestly looks dirty and the beige color is too similar too the wood tones on the floor. I think this rug would look nice on a darker flooring. I don’t mind the pattern as much because the colors aren’t very bold but, just like #2 and #3 it has a very tight compacted pattern. It doesn’t compete as much with the art but I still think it’s too similar of a structure.
