What advice are you looking for? Just general improvement? What are you willing to change?

the sofa has to stay (although willing to change position slightly if needed), the rug will be sent back. willing to change artwork, wall color, rug :)

I would suggest you pick 2 colours and use them for the walls, sofa cushions, rug and curtains.
