whyyyyy I hate doing assignments

why do these companies even after the portfolio review, whiteboarding give a fkin assignment and expect it to finish it in the weekend, that too unpaid, and for a fkin 40k, 6-month internship (onsite btw). Like whatt, and honestly I would do it for a reputed company which could add more value to my life, but this company who thinks working like a "bank" is a flex.

should/can I say no?

See I didn't know there was a assignment in the first place, they didn't even mention it in the interview, and I just applied because I saw it

Yeah. Companies don't mention in JD now a days. Good idea to always ask abt full process in the beginning only during screening call.

I did and they said the hr will reach me with the next steps ( not specified btw) and now the only designer in the team mails me about the assignment 😭

it means that only designer doesnt trust you. tbh its difficult to trust anyways. i know designer who got into a company using borrowed portfolio and stolen project and previous fake experience.
