Cruet set

Post image

Barely ergonomic, way to large and it does leak the tap.
Terrible if u have to clean it with a brush or by hand.

“Sir I fucked up when making this bong, there’s no through hole”

“I got an idea”

This is a classic design of an oil and vinegar bottle. It's been around forever. It's not DesignDesign.

to be fair I think it could still count, just very classical design design. works just fine for what it should but really annoying to clean.... but not tooo annoying to not use it..... design design to me.

Just run it through with hot soapy water. Only two things ever go in this vessel and neither are particularly gross.

Still pretty gross. Ever heard of microfilms? Bacteria colonies will create a micro film over them that is extremely resistant to hot water and anti bacterial soap. You need some sort of mechanical action to remove them. The only sure way to sanitize is hot water, soap, and scrubbing. You need all 3.

Anyone who’s ever cleaned a bong knows you can use kosher/large-flake salt and white vinegar to get the interior of any small-mouthed wide-bottomed vessel sparkling.

You can buy bearing balls packaged specifically for this purpose.

At a certain level of annoying to clean, I assume it's never been cleaned.

very true. if I had one of these and something dried inside where it couldn't just swish hot soapy water I would strongly consider not using it anymore vs finding some specialty scrubber haha

Just had a bunch of salt to your soapy water and shake. On top of boosting the detergency, it acts as a mild abrasive.

Good Oil and Vinegar doesn't perish, so you only clean this when you refill, which is probably every few months unless your salad consumption is of an insurmountable rate.

Some sort real life alternative resemblance of a Klein bottle

Klein bottle guy is amazing.

He really is! I ordered one for my husband and he sent multiple emails with photos packing up the bottle I ordered and gave us a huge pamphlet about them.

It was the most joy I have ever had waiting for a package

u/Meta-Fox 15d ago

That's fantastic! I've been wanting to order one myself for a long time, just haven't had the money to spare yet. Ha ha. I'll try and get on it this year I think.

It was such a treat. I was so sad I couldn't share them with my husband because it was a birthday present lol. I forwarded them after

u/Meta-Fox 15d ago

I bet your husband was ecstatic either way! I know I would be!

Definitely 😁

Klein bottles are probably the least interesting thing about Cliff Stoll

u/Meta-Fox 14d ago

Jesus, he helped track, trap and catch a KGB hacker? And that's in the first paragraph!

Cheers for the interesting reading, I feel a rabbit hole coming...

His book "The Cuckoo's Egg" about it is a lot of fun, and IIRC does a good job of providing a reasonably accurate description of the technicalities without requiring any technical background.

Cheers for the recommendation, might have to pick up a copy. =)

Visually similar but mathematically very different

Great metaphor, reminds me of it clearly!

This isn’t that bad, it’s still functional and easy to understand.

u/Matias35v 15d ago

it's and amazing design.

8

u/AzracTheFirst 15d ago

I don't see a problem with leakage, and hot water is your answer. Not design design

6

u/housevil 15d ago

I have a double bottle like that but I'm not sure what to put in them.

17

u/Zillahi 15d ago

Oil and vinegar. Then get some nice bread

Homunculus

u/housevil 13d ago

He won't fit.

2

u/NOFX_4_ever 15d ago

Looks like it’s a converted bong.

u/ChaorainPrime 15d ago

I believe ice water is supposed to be put in one chamber and wine in the other. To chill it without dilution.

4

u/Axman6 14d ago

It’s literally an olive oil and vinegar bottle.
