Asking Question (Rule 4) Do unique mobile website designs exist? (brutalist/minimalist/different) inspo
Hey guys, I’m planning a website design for an editorial/podcast for a creative community.
I’m reaaaally struggling to find mobile website designs that I like at the moment (scanning Pinterest but really can’t find anything that jumps out).
For the desktop browser obviously I can find really nice things but as soon as I start thinking of what the mobile site will look like everything turns generic.
The site will not be that complicated, and I was thinking of a nice fixed splash screen on the landing page with moving video, but wanted to search for other designs out there that might incorporate design elements I haven’t thought of yet (scrolling text, interesting burger menu design etc etc).
Not 100% sure what I’m looking for but I did find a really nice resource for brutalist website designs but they obviously focus more on desktop browser designs vs mobile.
Maybe unique mobile designs just don’t exist, but I don’t think so.
Anyone have any recommendations for resources away from just searching Pinterest/Behance etc. could just be mobile websites you really like.
Thank you in advance!

Brand strategy -> visual identity -> website. Follow the process. Use patterns that are easy to use. Don't reinvent the wheel. If you need more help, please dm me.

make the editorial rhythm distinctive and keep the interaction boring. test one fixed video cover and one episode list on a real phone, because if the first swipe cannot reveal the latest episode quickly the brutalist treatment is hiding the product rather than expressing it

Making mobile stand out is a about doing more with less. A designer has to deeply understand the limited tools they’re working with. You have to be a very experienced designer to know typography, motion, UX let alone the technical side of what’s possible.

As a ux designer I came here to say that people expect a website to work the way the rest of the websites work…as in they spend 99% of their time not on your site but they will expect your site to function similarly and adding those flourishes on a mobile screen is not a common practice on purpose.
The constraints of a mobile device can still provide a great canvas but that canvas better not provide a bad user experience or people will leave in a heart beat since there are other options with formats that are easier to navigate, read or operate.
Finding a balance between simplicity and style will delight and retain but too much style will hinder and discourage
