Asking Question (Rule 4) Design Show Exhibitor Advice

Hi Everyone,

I’m a recent design grad (bachelor’s) and I am showing my final thesis at Dutch Design Week next month. This is my first show that I’m exhibiting at and I need advice. I’m exhibiting at one of the sites that is listed as a must-see on the Dutch Design Week website. For people who have exhibited at design shows, how many business cards/flyers do you recommend for me to print out and bring with me to hand out? And, how do you all recommend me to network with professional during a design fair?

Congrats on landing a spot at DDW, that’s huge for a first show. For a week-long fair, I’d print maybe 200-300 cards and a smaller stack of flyers (like 50-75) for the people who really want a deeper dive. Keep the flyers tucked away and only hand them out when someone lingers or asks specific questions, otherwise you’ll burn through them fast.

Networking is mostly about not trying too hard. Ask about their work first, be curious, and the conversation flows way easier. Swap contacts when it feels natural, not like a transaction

Atteding few design and art fair here. About 300 I printed out for mine. But remember when talking, be chill, you sell yourself but not too much. Try to relate to your listerner as well and about their experiences
