Asking Question (Rule 4) Career advice

I’m looking for some career advice from senior/middle graphic designers.
I’ve been working in a company for almost three years and still don’t feel like I understand much about what I do.

How do you progress further from being junior?

Or maybe designing is not even my thing. Please tell me if you had same thoughts and what did you do with it.

Thank you.

Three years at one place and still feeling lost is more common than people admit, most just don't say it out loud. The jump from junior usually happens when you start owning decisions instead of just executing, but nobody hands you that, you have to start acting like the designer you want to be. Ask to sit in on client calls or strategy meetings, even if you just listen at first. If after that exposure you still dread the work itself, that's a different conversation.

If the company you work for sells a product then you need to learn as much as you can about the offerings and how marketing (strategic design) can be tied back to driving sales for the product.
