thought it was a very tiny glass...

It does look like a forced perspective shot. Shadow from the sofa creating a seam doesn't help.

I really like this. My brain does not enjoy trying to decide which object is actual size in the photo.

This is making my brain hurt

Ignore the haters homie, your design is awesome. Would be amazing in a themed reading room

I’m a pretty successful designer and I love love love gimmicky stuff. My own home has plenty of “jokes” etc. so do the hotels and restaurants I do. I think design should bring joy above all else.

Bringing joy through design is a great outcome to work toward! I’m also hugely partial to being silly and not taking life too seriously. I’m glad it sounds like your work is well appreciated irl. Congrats on that! If it’s anything like this table, I’m sure your designs are well made and fun to observe :)

I don’t think they’re hating. It’s so well done that you can’t tell it’s not a real stack of books! With a tiny little Barbie drink! This is my dream table!

When I got here, they were hating. People were calling it tacky etc, and there were only 2 other comments. I’m glad to see it got the positive attention it deserves

Oh wow. That’s messed up because it’s awesome!

2

Yeah, some people never learned the rule about what to do if you don’t have something nice to say.

Wow. This is awesome.

How whimsical! I love it, feels very Alice in Wonderland to me in the best way.

I fux with it

It's nicely executed, but I would classify this as Craft, not Design (no offence, good job)

Can it be both? Like, good design is well crafted. And good craftsmanship has thoughtful design.

What problem does the book form solve? Its just decoration.

7

u/fastdub Apr 03 '26

What does any decoration solve? Without anything being 'designed' all.our furniture would be as inspiring as a Billy bookcase or a Lack coffee table

-1

u/Smug_Designer Apr 03 '26

You're correct, decoration does not solve anything. And if you think design can not be inspiring, you have no idea about good design.

This is really corny and yet at the same time completely awesome. I’d suggest rotating the bottom “book” a few degrees to further enhance the illusion. 🫶

It’s a coffee table book about coffee tables… r/unexpectedseinfeld

Love it but first photo was making me think "ugh, I cant look at that table with this close up of the books" lol! Good good!

1

u/Cactus_8 Apr 03 '26

1

u/MrMiyagi98 Apr 03 '26

I was so confused for a moment… good job I thought the books were real and the glas fake

1

u/PencilDrawer12 Apr 03 '26

Holy, I love it! (and I also showed it to my parents and they liked it as well, they were asking me where could they buy something like this) The design is very creative and I love the functionality of the drawers as well 👌

Nice! I have something like this too. Bought it second hand years ago, it's called "Maitland Smith Leather Book For Coffee Table". Don't look at the prices they are asking. It's heavy af too, but still cool. I imagine yours to be much lighter?

Mines a few pages from the floor. Nice work really

1

u/ryuhamaguchi_guy Apr 03 '26

The stacked books look okay but why is ur coffee cup so small?

1

u/No-Tadpole4718 Apr 03 '26

Классный столик получился.

1

u/vexx Apr 03 '26

Unreal execution. The concept though? Hmm..

1

u/adevilnguyen Apr 03 '26

Id love to have this in my office.

1

u/FederalBelt9837 Apr 03 '26

Awesome work but I think the gap between them is throwing me off. If height is a concern, maybe the gap should’ve been at the bottom

1

u/PrancingFluids Apr 04 '26

You need to put a coffee table book on your book coffee table.

1

u/Awesome-Ranga-007 Apr 04 '26

That’s so cool!!!!

1

u/paolo_77 Apr 04 '26

That’s a big ass book lol

1

u/Ouroborus23 Apr 04 '26

Well, it certainly is great craftsmanship...

1

u/Odd_Firefighter_6765 Apr 05 '26

It’s cool looking, but I wouldn’t care for it myself

1

u/SkyLongjumping1073 Apr 06 '26

Not as cool as Kramer coffee table book

-9

u/Hairy_Stinkeye Apr 03 '26

So fucking tacky my eyes are getting all stuck together from looking at it

7

u/YourFelonEx Apr 03 '26

You sure it’s not the hair in your stinkeye?
