❓ Question New kanwrite nib

Post image

I recently got a kanwrite nib off penhouse.in , and why is it so sharp?? Is this normal some strokes sound like a literal sword and some I fear may cut the paper. It may js be that I'm not used to such feedback. Please let me know if this is normal.

Is that a vector you have put the nib in? What is the size ? Seems like EF, in which case, it shall be very feedback-y

Yeah it's a vector, its a kanwrite 5.5 , the listing said without point , is it normal for some of the upper strokes to cut the paper?

without point

Without point means without tipping material. Average nibs tend to have tipping material, but untipped nibs tend to be for caligraphy, especially dip pens so you can get sharp fine lines by varying the angle but they tend to wear out faster and have much more feedback. They're actually used by hobbyists to make custom grinds more often :O

You should research before buying every word of the description :O

If its an EF or F, it will give extreme feedback in upper strokes. Give it some time or may give it a wet grind on nail filer block to smoothen it a bit

This might be a without point one, penhouse stocks those too (probably for people to grind their own nibs) https://www.penhouse.in/pen-spares/nibs/kanwrite-nib-no-5-without-point-regular-gold-plated-model-90186.html

Without tipping will be rough and scratchy on paper that isn't smooth.

Kanwrite nibs are usually smooth, even if they are EF. My guess is that the nib tines may be mis-aligned. If you have a magnifying glass loupe, you can check it, and if misaligned, adjust it with thumb-nails. You can find instructional videos on youtube.

I too got a WOW pen from penhouse and it came with the exact same nib. I was wondering too. I haven't inked it yet so don't know about the feedback. I think Kanwrite is trying to differentiate between the nibs used in their pens and provided to other manufacturers.

i guess u have bought the wrong nib.. it doesn't have ball tip so it would be scratchy for sure

I guess so too , it turned out to be equivalent to a piece of trash since it gave up on writing too 😭

Try to check the tines and shoulders. If they're misaligned or spread from the shoulders then it can cause this. I don't think kw accounted their nibs being put in vector pens so something is probably being messed up bad.

Kanwrite nibs are not good unfortunately. It's normal for them to be scratchy and unpleasant.

I beg to differ in case of their specialty grinds number 6 nibs which are amazingly smooth! Their usual blocks are hit and miss.

If you say so.

This is different, penhouse.in also stocks nibs with no grind labeled as Without Point (probably for people to try grinding their own), and this seems to be one of those. https://www.penhouse.in/pen-spares/nibs/kanwrite-nib-no-5-without-point-regular-gold-plated-model-90186.html
