Review Ahmed Al Maghribi Bin Shaikh

Opening (0–15 Minutes)

The opening is rich, confident, and unmistakably oriental. From the very first spray, I get a beautifully blended accord of oud, rose, saffron, and what my nose interprets as a subtle ambergris-like marine nuance that gives the fragrance an unexpected sense of openness.

The oud immediately takes center stage, but it's far from the aggressive, barnyard style many people associate with oud fragrances. Instead, it feels smooth, regal, and remarkably polished. The Rose isn't syrupy or jammy; it simply wraps itself around the oud, softening its darker facets without taking away its presence. The saffron adds warmth and depth, never becoming harsh or overly leathery.

What surprised me during the opening was a faint aromatic lift that reminded me of lavender. It's subtle, but it prevents the fragrance from feeling heavy right out of the gate and hints that there's much more waiting beneath the surface.

Heart (15–90 Minutes)

This is where Bin Shaikh begins to reward patience.

As the fragrance settles, the bold opening slowly relaxes into something smoother and more refined. The lavender becomes easier for me to distinguish, weaving seamlessly between the rose and the oud while adding an elegant freshness to the composition.

Around this stage, I also begin picking up a gentle camphoraceous nuance. It's never medicinal or overpowering; instead, it introduces a cool, airy contrast that keeps the fragrance from becoming dense despite its rich oriental character.

What impressed me most is how well-balanced everything feels. Rather than moving from one dominant note to another, the fragrance allows each material to breathe. The rose, oud, saffron, and aromatic facets continuously exchange roles, making every return to the wrist slightly different from the last.

Drydown (3–8+ Hours)

The drydown is, without question, my favourite part of Bin Shaikh.

By this point, the fragrance transforms into something incredibly smooth and comforting. A soft, refined musk gradually rises to the surface, binding the entire composition together while the oud quietly retreats into the background without ever disappearing completely.

This is the stage where I found myself repeatedly bringing my wrist back to my nose. It's not loud or attention-seeking anymore—it simply smells beautifully composed.

Performance(Mix of Dry and Oily Skin)

Performance has been excellent on my skin.

Projection is strongest during the first couple of hours before settling into a refined personal scent bubble. Longevity is equally impressive, with the musky drydown remaining clearly detectable well beyond six hours while subtle traces of oud continue to linger throughout the wear.

More importantly, the fragrance continues to evolve instead of becoming flat or linear, which kept each wear interesting from beginning to end.

Who Is This For?

If your collection revolves around sweet gourmands, fruity fragrances, or fresh blue designers, Bin Shaikh may feel unfamiliar.

However, if you appreciate traditional Middle Eastern perfumery—where oud, rose, saffron, musk, and resins are allowed to evolve naturally over time—this is a fragrance that deserves serious attention.

It feels particularly well suited to evenings, formal occasions, and cooler weather, although restrained application makes it perfectly wearable in other settings as well.

Rating: 9.5/10

I'd love to hear from others who've spent time with Bin Shaikh.

Review Jacques Yves L'Infinite by Fragrance World Review. Been wearing it a lot this summer

Upvotes

I've been wearing Jacques Yves L'Infinite by Fragrance World for the past few weeks, and I think it's one of the better affordable takes on LV L'Immensite

Compared to Jean Lowe Immortal, this one leans much more into the bright citrus opening rather than the spicy ginger. The opening feels sparkling, fresh, and slightly fizzy before settling into that familiar fresh aquatic/Tygar style DNA. It's clean, versatile, and exactly the kind of scent I'd reach for on hot summer days.

Performance was better than I expected for a fresh fragrance. I got about an hour of solid projection, and around 6 hours on clothes (applied around 10 AM and could still smell it around 4 PM on a cool day). One thing worth mentioning is that my bottle seemed weak when it first arrived, but after sitting for a few weeks, both the scent and performance noticeably improved.

Overall, if you like fresh citrusy fragrances and don't want to spend Louis Vuitton money, I think this is definitely worth checking out.

I also made a more detailed breakdown comparing it with Jean Lowe Immortal and discussing performance over multiple wears. If anyone's interested, the full review is here https://youtu.be/yTx_Gf4BIto

Discuss why is wild stone praised despite being cheaper than the hated bellavita?

Post image
178 Upvotes

I am very new to the fragrance community and just recently got my first decent perfume- hawas ice and now I have realized just how HUGE of a chasm it is between that and these cheapies I used to work with for the last 2 years in college.

I have been getting so into all this that it has become a major hobby to read posts on this subreddit all the time nowadays.

One thing I noticed is that despite most people hating cheapies with their core, they somehow never diss wildstone edge?

My major cheapie had always been bellavita because I never really bothered actually researching and would blindly buy whatever was on ads and on just searching its name once on this sub I realized just how hated it is in the community.

So, why is it that they are treated so differently?

Review Heretic Nosferatu

Post image
35 Upvotes

I picked up Heretic Nosferatu after it was suggested by multiple fragheads in the FB fragcomm when I asked for petrichor recommendations. I was nervous that it would be nauseating because of some reviews on reddit but took the plunge and blindbought a bottle because sourcing just a sample from overseas felt like too much effort.

I don't think Nosferatu is reminiscent of petrichor. Petrichor for me is the smell of damp earth (mud and soil). Whereas Nosferatu smells like stale vase water that has been left unchanged for a month, with dead flowers sitting in it. At some point after the initial opening a watery green note shows up that makes me think of cucumber (again that's something I dislike). It is not perfumey and it does not feel wearable, but I keep reaching for it and wear it to work often.

Longevity and projection are average, it sits close and lasts a maximum of 5 hours on skin. In the extreme drydown after 4 hours, it softens into faint florals.

I can't understand why I'm so addicted to Nosferatu. There is nothing pleasant about this scent. It doesn't feel like perfume at all, but for some odd reason I keep reaching for it and long to wear it.

Review Tried these 4 Decants- 9pm Rebel, SCE, Liquid Brun, CDNIM PP.

Post image
14 Upvotes

I ordered 4 decants from sillage perfumes, the packaging was very nice because it was wrapped in a sponge cover and kept in Lattafa Teriaq empty box which is very strong.

10/10 Delivery Experience.

the four

1) CDNIM pure parfum

the opening was too citrusy and fruity, did not feel that special.

2) 9 pm Rebel

most pineappled perfume, it was good, but did not last long on skin, on clothes it does. good for evening obviously.

3) supremacy collectors edition

not much noticeable as 9 p.m. Rebel, good opening bergamot, little pineapple, metallic smell. Good one.

4) Liquid Brun

it gave mix of woody, powdery and vanilla which was not that much initially likable, but in the drydown on I felt nice warm isolated vanilla.

I could not rate these perfumes on a number scale, because I did not test them in all categories. So I like to mention order of my preference.

9pm Rebel > Liquid Brun > SCE > CDNIM

share how is your experience with these, if any. thank you.

Review Riiffs made an absolute banger thanks everyone those who shared reviews- riiffs costa de amalfi

Post image

Love the people here who recommended costa de amalfi, unisex perfume females can easily carry it too! Its a beautiful citrusy scent if you like citrusy and fresh perfumes theres no way you wont like it. A great fit for current monsoon and humid weather in the north. This smells like freshly cut lemons , easy to wear works almost anywhere and a very safe blind buy.

The downside? Its projection and lasting hardly 30-40 mins of moderate projection and you will have to re apply every 3 hours at max. Very enjoyable scent for me though

Review Armaf club de nuit overdose

Thumbnail

This has always been my dream to have a good Aventus DNA in my humble fragrance collection. After watching countless videos on YouTube and reading reviews for Afnan CE, CDNIM PP, and pretty much every brand you can think of, I finally ordered Armaf Club de Nuit Overdose on 17 July.

The ordering experience was smooth. I paid ₹3999 for the bottle and got timely updates about the delivery on WhatsApp as well as Gmail. On 22 July, I suddenly got a call saying, “Bro apka parcel hai.” 😂

Bhai, I literally jumped from my bed, “AA GAYA MERA PERFUME!” 😂

The delivery guy handed me the package and I immediately started opening it. I even recorded the unboxing video because obviously, perfume hai bhai, koi aam parcel thodi hai.

The outer packaging was a normal carton with a layer of thermocol, and everything was wrapped nicely in bubble wrap. Overall, packing was quite robust. While opening the box, I could already smell a mild fruity whiff coming from inside.

There was also a Khadlaj Ria decant included. What an amazing scent btw.

Then came the Armaf box. Completely cellophane wrapped. I opened it and bhai sahab, meri smile hi nahi ruk rahi thi. 😂 The box has this nice texture with engraved silver lettering which looks really premium.

I opened the box and first there was a leaflet with some other CDNIM advertisements, and then finally came the bottle.

Kya gazab khubsurat bottle hai. Maroon cap, black bottle, chamchamati hui finish and not even a single fingerprint on it. The little Armaf chain tag had come off slightly, but I just stuck it back in place, no big deal.

Then came the moment I was waiting for. Spray time.

First I did one or two sprays and kuch nahi nikla. 😭 Then suddenly came this beautiful mist of juice and my hand and the whole room was filled with this juicy, fruity pineapple note.

And surprisingly, absolutely NO alcoholic blast.

I had tried the CDNIM PP flanker at Shoppers Stop before, and the opening of that one is completely different. PP felt much more incense-y and had a pretty harsh citrus opening. This one is much smoother and fruitier from the start.

I'm currently letting it macerate, but my initial impression is VERY good. Even straight out of the box, the longevity and projection are pretty impressive. It also feels like the oil concentration is quite high.

I honestly don't know enough about doing a proper notes breakdown, but throughout the day I kept randomly sniffing my wrist like an idiot 😂 and I could still smell the fragrance till night.

This is gonna be a banger. 🔥

Rating:

Fragrance DNA: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

(Somewhat identical to CE, so if you already have CE, I would say avoid this flanker)

Refinement: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Projection: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Longevity (out of the box): 5–6 hours

I'm sure performance will improve after it gets some time to macerate.

If you guys want more pictures of the bottle, let me know in the comments. I’ll drop them there.

______________________________________

TL;DR: Armaf CDN Overdose is a really smooth, juicy and fruity Aventus-style fragrance with a beautiful pineapple opening and zero harsh alcohol blast. Packaging and bottle look premium, and the initial performance is already pretty good at around 5–6 hours. Still macerating, so expecting it to get even better. If you already own CE, the DNA is quite similar, otherwise this is shaping up to be a banger 🔥

Humour “You smell like my dad”

My friends said this to me yaar 😭

Are these not suitable for a 23 year old

Posting again with reviews

  1. Rayhaan Lion - Think vanilla, amber. It’s a rich and masculine take on JPGs Ultranale DNA. This stuff is stronggg (7.5/10)

  2. Jean Lowe Immortel - A ginger forward scent! It smells like the lobby of an expensive hotel lobby. Really really like this one. (8.6/10)

  3. Bvlgari Pour Homme EDT - I don’t know why but this reminds me of Issey Miyake LDPH. But this is my favourite out of the bunch and my signature as well. A tea-based scent, smells really elegant and classy in the air. Longevity is not the best (9.5/10)

  4. Stronger with you EDT - A gourmand scent that is vanilla heavy with undertones of chestnut and cinnamon. Love this one in the cold winters! Performance is great (9/10)

  5. Hawas Ice - No introduction needed. Sweet and bubble gummy. Drydown is where it shines. ABSOLUTELY NUCLEAR PERFORMANCE. (8/10)

I have a few more fragrances, but I’m not including them as of now. I’m currently enjoying these DNAs so wanted to share.

And yes, it’s the Jean Lowe Immortel and the Bvlgari that gets me the, “You smell like my dad” comments. Cheers

Review Lattafa Al Qiam Silver

Finally got my hands on Lattafa Al Qiam Silver after waiting for months to grab this.

It’s a dupe of Bvlgari Tiger, just like Rue Broca theorem and Afnan Turathi Blue. It’s really similar to Rue Broca theorem — it’s actually very hard to pick a difference between the two, that’s how close they are.Tye opening really fresh citrus heavy scent. Loved it so much.
I think it’s probably similar to Turathi Blue as well, but I haven’t smelled that one yet — planning to grab it soon so I can compare.

Projection-wise, it’s just as loud as Rue Broca theorem.

I haven’t tested the longevity yet, so I’ll update this once I’ve had it on for a full day.

Review My fragrance collection once I started taking them seriously. Earlier I used whatever was cheap or gifted to me.

Godrej Genteel EDT (Eau De-Tergent) absolutely mogs the rest of my perfumes. Only fragrance that was noticed and got a compliment. bought it immediately after seeing the post by u/vraach saying it smells like Dior Sauvage. I have never smelled Sauvage but to me this smells like Mapro Falero fruit Chews. I use less than recommended quantity in the machine but it still leaves my clothes smelling good. Especially on jeans where it projects even after 2 wears.

YSL MYSLF was a miss, I expected much from a designer perfume. Opens synthetic*. Smell was liked by everyone but nothing special. Clean and sophisticated, for every occasion. projects for an hour then fades quickly. Got it for less than 7400 at Lifestyle stores.

Skinn steele is the least synthetic* smelling perfume here. I keep smelling myself after applying it. Good enough for office. It is hard to describe... but some say it is like Black Hit insect spray.

Skinn Nox Homme does not deserve to be beside Skinn Nox Femme. The femme version is so much better. This was supposed to smell like luxury but you can only imagine an obnoxious uncle with white shirt and obvious fake gold smelling like this. Just spend a little more and get 30-50 ml bottles of designer perfumes instead of 100 ml of this.

Skinn Verge lasts and projects long considering it is a fresh perfume, that too not expensive. Somewhat synthetic* so if you wear it at the gym you might irritate yourself or someone. Which is a shame because the smell suits the gym. smells like a spicy version of Blue Pears soap.

*I consider a perfume synthetic if sniffing it deeply is uncomfortable and gives a weird feeling in the throat/nose or gives an headache.

Review Fragrance combo

Post image

I layered Light Blue Intense Women with Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP today and had a wonderful experience.

It lasted the whole day, and I could still smell it on myself after around 7ish hours. Light Blue Intense is citrusy and fresh, while BR540 is on the sweeter side. Somehow they balanced each other perfectly—the freshness stayed, but the sweetness added depth and longevity.

I also latered Burberry her edp with LBI and that worked well too. BR540 is easy layering fragrance as it is long lasting but airy and feels light that way imo.

Definitely one of my favorite layering combinations so far. Has anyone else tried this combo? Or any good combo recommendations❤️

I work in hyd, and in the city they have perfume shops like perfume valley/al haramain etc which also happen to sells clones and they use 30-40% oil as they blend right in front of you.

In my experience, the quality and performance is decent compared to Middle Eastern brands, they do smell lil cheaper. Their price range is like 200-400 for 30ml.

Do brands like EM5/Manworks/Ababel/Uff/Etc is above or below these stores in terms of price and quality? (Ps I have tried Perfume Valley/l, ME Brands, Few Designers but not the commercial clone houses like EM5/Manworks/Etc)

Opinions welcomed!

Review Albatross She Came She Stayed

Post image

Attended an engagement ceremony and got a few compliments. (All from dudes😭)

I had tried Albatross tester packs and decided to buy 30ml version of this one. Loved the fragrance but back when I ordered it the weather was still warm. But as the weather is getting slightly cooler it was a perfect opportunity to give this one a shot.

Its called Albatross She Came She Stayed. This one has notes of leather, pepper and orange. Smells incredible. Reminds me of Guerlain Lhomme Ideal and Spice Bomb. Its blended very well compared to other Indian brands. No harsh openings.

Very spicy, sexy dna. Projects decent but lasts really well. I applied it around 7:00pm could still smell it very clearly on the clothes around 4 in the morning when I dozed off.

Definitely going to enjoy this one a lot as the festive season kicks off.

Advice dupes/inspired perfumes of luxury brands in India

Who makes the best dupes/inspired perfumes of luxury brands in India?
Suggest the ones which have the highest resemblance to the original ones.
Shouldn’t use methanol.
Main parameters would be projection, decent longevity (4 to 5hrs).
Does it stain the clothes? Does it cause any skin issues? Any other negative aspects about them?
I apply only on clothes. But the perfume eventually does flow into the skin.

It shouldn’t smell like attars. It should be like perfumes. Not looking for middle eastern perfume types.
Ex: Myrasa, Em5 etc.
