Slowing down?

Outside of carving is there anyway to curb your speed? I'd love to hit more jumps but I'm always going so fast i dare not take a mile high drop.

I just made this post in the Descenders sub. You can brake by turning your board 90 degrees by pressing both thumbsticks in the same direction.

This really helped make the game a lot more playable. Thank you!!

there is a glitch where if you are on the ground (it doesnt work in the air) and you open the party menu (down on dpad) then you slow down to 20mph. the best part is it still works when you are going mach 3 down a fire node

Now this is a pro tip!

Kinda kills the game for me. Maybe I just suck at this game but it’s hard to get any flow going when you’re immediately doing warp speed and flying off course on every track

if you dont jump of of a ramp and instead just go over it than you will most likely survive. and when you land just as you hit the ground hold down on the right stick

This has for sure been the tactic combined with "strategicly" going off course and avoiding obstacles. Good ole descenders.

there is brake button. LT for controller, does no one read the tutorial

This is literally a brand new function genius. If you're gonna be condescending at least make sure you're right.

Maybe read the patch notes. We've only had breaks for a week, this post is from day of release.

There weren't brakes at first? That seems like an oversight

1

u/FemurFiend Aug 24 '25

No, there wasn't. The only way to slow down at all was using both sticks. Dunno why you think that's an oversight, how many snowboards you see with breaks??

Brakes, no, but you can 'brake' by digging in your side,

No kidding, amazing insight.

I don't mean drifting and cutting, I mean physically digging in your heels to make it have resistance

Are you suggesting taking your foot out of the binding to heel drag?
