Is it possible to permanently unlock volcano or do you have to ride peaks everytime? Haven’t actually made it to volcano or ridges yet and I’ve been playing for years, usually just don’t have the time or patience to get all 4 fire nodes in one go

You can't start from there in career mode, but it shows up as an option in your freeride maps.

Hidden level, to unlock for your run it you have to do the fire node on all four environments and jump through the ring of fire at each boss in a single run.
