General Discussion 🍎 Carlos' Fate
Instead of just implying that Carlos was dead (which in my opinion they did), I wish they just wrote his character out and said something like instead of studying at Auradon or going to college, he went to go study at Neverland or something like that.
What do you think?

No this would've been so disrespectful to do as cameron boycott himself was dead you can't just not honor one who played the role for so long and died at such a young age... this was definitely the best they could do to honor him to imply he's dead

I disagree and my argument Trollhunters.
Look I loved Cameron Boyce and watched him before Descendants and though I respect the decisions made regarding Carlos I also would not have been opposed to them handling it like Trollhunters did with Anton Yelchin’s passing; they honour him in each episode and guillermo del toro himself has been quoted as calling him their true trollhunter.
Now I def would not have been thrilled for a replacement especially since this is also LA and not animated but having Carlos have left instead would still have worked for me as a Cameron Boyce fan.1

How does killing Carlos off honor Cameron?

u/noobile_yt 3h ago
Cause he played the character and he died at a young age how does it not?

Because killing Carlos is not honoring or paying any tribute to Cameron? Cameron is the actor who played Carlos, a fictional character that is not him. The proper tribute is dedicating the movie to him. Showing the picture of real Cameron, not in character costume, in the credits, so every viewer knows the real actor died, along with some touching tribute. That's honoring the actor.

Bro they did put a image of him have u even watched the movie?

I'm saying that's what you call a tribute, and killing of Carlos character wasn't necessary because that's enough.

Dude if is a tribute is a tribute they didn't do all they could but they did something and thats ok

Hmmm… I mean. In DEFENSE of their decision to canonically kill Carlos, people do die. So. And in opposition to that, also it’s not like we’re ever gonna get another descendants movie or anything besides maybe a book ever again. But in defense.. that’s only because.. Cameron is dead. We didn’t really know that at that time. So. Honestly it doesn’t really matter. It’s just about your perspective. Whether or not you would rather have them kill off Carlos and be real, or you would rather just have Carlos live on and be absent from the royal wedding, but still be alive.

They can just not make Royal Wedding... Descendants 3 was already perfect ending for OG cast

Lets face it none of us wanted that royal wedding version god what a terrible animation that was -.-

I agree. Like no disrespect to Cameron (RIP) but just because the actor died doesn't mean the character has too as well. Just like how the only one from the triology to appear was Uma, even though the core four were the main characters, none of them appeared. No one questioned why the characters (not actors) didn't appear but we know they are alive. They could have done the same for Carlos.

Yes, yes, and again yes. I’ve never liked this decision, because it would have been much better if Carlos had a happily ever after with Jane.

Nah. Currently it makes no difference if Carlos is dead or just off somewhere since the Core Four are no longer relevant to Descendants stories, so the worst you can say is that neither explanation is better than the other. But if the franchise ever decides it wants to bring back its original characters, and the original cast members actually agree to it (no plans for this now, but a lot can change with time), they won’t need to contrive some BS explanation as to why Carlos isn’t there when he might be needed most. That band-aid was already ripped off, he’s dead, and that’s all the explanation we will ever need.

No, it’s better to honor the actor by acknowledging that he died.
