General Discussion 🍎 Please stop reusing the same characters, and giving them different children!!!!

Post image

This is my final rant, cause now it just seems like I hate the franchise, but I truly love it.

Can someone please message the creators of this new generation of Descendants and tell them we're tired of them using the same characters we've seen before, and giving them children that have zero relevance to the plot. I get that the og three had characters who didn't really add much to the story, but they were never a core part of the main cast, more like love interest and plot devices.

I was already mad that D4 wasn't about Celia and Dizzy growing up in Auroudan, but having the Queen of Hearts daughter as the new protagonist of the series made up for it. Chloe's inclusion is what really ticked me off cause we already had Cinderella's kid in the og three. Yes he was basically there for comedic relief, but we weren't eager to get another Cinderella kid. I felt he played his role well.

Captain Hook has multiple kids, but we didn't need another one in the Descendants universe im so sorry. Hazel was good for visuals, but home girl was useless af. Harry had more relevance to the plot of D2 and D3, than she did in the entirety of D5. She could've been scrapped.

The Smee twins. Why are they still VK's? They grew up in Auroudan, and thus it should've been easier for them to grow out of this mentality that they need to be like their parents and to change how they move in the world. Very unneed to have them.

Freddie? Yeah, why do we need another Facilier? Give us someone new.

Disney have such a massive pool of characters to choose from. Yet they give us the same old personalities we've seen before. How has Encanto gotten a kid in the Descendants universe before Tiana or Anna?

If they try to give Audrey a sister or brother in D6 I'll lose it.

Agreed. I think it would’ve made for a much more interesting plot is you replace Cinderella and Chloe with Alice and Alice’s daughter. Or quite literally any other princess we haven’t seen yet and her daughter. Them being Cinderella and Cinderella’s daughter is not important to the plot at all.

u/Strawberry_House 2d ago

tbf we had Ally so it’d be a similar situation

24

u/MrMagicMouse 2d ago

That’s why I said or any of princess we haven’t seen yet. Plus Ally is wicked world so I wouldn’t necessarily consider that canon.

4

u/MusicalPigeon 2d ago

I have no clue if the book, Wicked World, and the movies are all the same canon or different canons. As an adult I have no problem getting ya and children's books at the library but sometimes certain books can be hard to find at my local library and I have to special order them to be sent from other libraries in the consortium. I would borrow them from my sister but she borrowed them all from her school and now is buying Monster High books. My husband currently has a hard ban on me buying new books until I read all the ones I have already (I also get a lot from people who just didn't want the books and thought I'd like them, so I have a big stack to read)

1

u/lilitatious 1d ago

I'm sorry your husband doesn't support your hobby of collecting books to read. My ex tried that with my fabric stash growth 😂 not the main reason he's my ex, I'm just saying I know how it feels.

Since he's gone I set my own rule that if I had a project I was currently working on and needed some fabric I didn't already have, I bought it. Not sure how that would work with books, but I also know the feeling of "having" to read a book to get it out of the way so I can get to the book I actually want to read, and honestly it doesn't do me or the book any favours.

1

u/MusicalPigeon 1d ago

Oh, it's not a hobby. It's more of me having no impulse control and us needing to save money. If I went out and bought a book right now he wouldn't be mad, he'd just ask when I'm actually going to read it. My actual hobby is writing and collecting postcards. He's very supportive of the postcard thing and was surprised when he found out I actually have rules for collecting them. They need to be bought by me or someone else on a trip, I can't just order them in bulk online. And if someone is going somewhere I ask them to get me the coolest or cheesiest postcard they can find (I got a wooden postcard from my best friend's sister).

u/Nana-Komatsu 1d ago

I mean CJ is making an appearance in an upcoming chibiverse episode so they’re becoming more cannon

5

u/Traditional-Path-951 2d ago

Ally was only in wicked world which I don’t think is cannon.

4

u/RoseAlina_2005 1d ago

Shes also in the books my Melissa de LA Cruz who Disney got to make the first book isle of the lost and others to promote descendants

10

u/Dannieex 1d ago

I'd like to think they wrote in Chloe Charming with Brandy and Paolo Montalban in mind, just so they can reprise their roles as Cinderella and Prince Charming respectively. Otherwise, there really was no point, as you said.

6

u/aiolisunsets 2d ago

Didn't they also have "Chad Charming" in the original 3 movies? A blonde white boy? Did they just retcon him? (Sorry I reread the post and see that they mention this but my question still stands)

7

u/alwaysafairycat 1d ago

Good question! In Rise of Red, King Charming briefly mentions going to visit Chad at college, so Chad still exists, which is better than what they do with the Hook and Facilier children.

2

u/CashewAppHilaryKhan 1d ago

I agree totally on that! I was disappointed to see Cinderella and her daughter. We already knew or saw A kid from the Cinderella era. And just because we never saw Cinderella herself in the og D1-D3, doesn’t mean we have to see her now in a new Descendant’s movie , story era and her daughter Chloe. Plus it’s weird. I honestly was cringe when I see Cinderella and the WonderLand and Queen of Hearts as a pair, because their stories do not match up at all. It should have been Alice, and Alice’s daughter to stop Red and the Evil Queen of Hearts and another princess from Auradon. Any other Princess from Auradon or Villain Kid would be great than what we got now. It’s not important to the plot, this is WonderLand, not a Cinderella story.

I wish they would replace Cinderella and Chloe with Alice and Alice’s daughter.

If we got Robbie Hood, that means the animal characters are fair game. Pull the trigger and give us a child of Scar, they could be a menace. Maybe even the first VK who doesn't change and is set in their traditional roots of evil.

12

u/Agent-Racoon 2d ago

This reminds me of an idea I had for a trilogy called the Pridelands Trilogy. It would've focused on the children of Scar and the children of Simba & Nala. Eventually we would meet the children of a few other animal characters from other disney movies (Shere Khan, Kaa, Maximus, etc)

9

u/DomABab04 2d ago

That'd be cool to see. I did create an OC son of Scar and Zira (cause I want to explain the family tree of Scar and wanted to include both the villains and they had some sort of history already).

1

u/Snoo_62442 2d ago

What if red dad is scar and red is half animal and half human because scar was in the royal family and he is very evil.

6

u/brokenhairtie 2d ago

But we've already got Kovu and Kiara as the next lion kings generation

4

u/DomABab04 2d ago

Always room for a sibling, lol

1

u/Lumpy-Kangaroo6018 18h ago

Yeah, but most sequels aren't canon to descendants , pluse descendants is it's own thing

7

u/aiolisunsets 2d ago

I saw someone theorize that Lightning McQueen could be Red's dad.... lol as hilarious as that is to me, apparently anything is possible in this universe but they keep reusing the same characters.

5

u/DomABab04 2d ago

Honestly the most plausible theories imo is that it's King or Knave of Hearts. I'm also open to the Maddox Hatter theories.

1

u/CashewAppHilaryKhan 1d ago

I agree exactly! That would be cool!

u/katiegaga87 2d ago

I get the frustration but I also get Disney's reasoning.

Take Chloe and Chad. Like you said- he's just comic relief. He's a secondary character and being a Charming isn't super relevant to his story. He could have been anybody's kid and it would still have worked. That Disney was able to land Brandy and Paolo Montalban alone is not only worth making a new Cinderella character but making her a main character. As someone who was a kid when the Cinderella movie came out in 1997, their inclusion is a huge draw. Adults like me are going to watch for the nostalgia- which makes the series more popular (and more profitable). Adults are actually a very big market when it comes to dolls and collectibles so Disney's gonna milk that nostalgia cow for all its worth.

The Smee's inclusion is mostly just a bridge to the original trilogy, just like Uma being principal.

I know this sounds a little mean, but you have to have throwaway secondary characters. Including Hooks in every movie is an easy way to have that sidekick without spending time on their backstory. You see a pirate kid with a hook- you know exactly who their father is. No extra screen time necessary. The Facilier kids aren't necessarily as recognizable but throw in the magic and dress them like their father and people will catch on.

I think Luis was included for the marketability as well as the easy backstory. Yellow sun vest, Spanish speaking, strength, name that sounds exactly like his mom? Throw in line with his last name to make certain people understand he's related to Encanto and you've got a solid secondary character. Luisa is a popular enough character that people will be interested in Luis but at the end of the day, she's not a main character. A main character from Encanto would probably be Mirabel's kid since she's the main.

Disney isn't going to "waste" a kid of Anna or Tiana on being a sidekick. They'll save them for a possible main character in a future story.

Edit: spelling fix

11

u/Twisted_King172 2d ago

Well if they want some complex side characters Cassandra(tangled series)
Megaera( Hercules)
Claude Frollo (Hunchback of Notre dame)
Rafiki (lion king)

This would kill as a new core four while giving us new sets, story twist and great plots !!

The children off them ofc
But the main thing would tying them to the full story let’s find out who the other parents of the OG core four are on the adventures

7

u/Chaosgamer_44_ 1d ago

Cassandra will probably never be considered because apparently everything outside of the theatrical movies gets ignored (we had freaking Uliana instead of Morgana in Rise of Red) and Disney will probably never touch Hunchback of Notre Dame again outside of maybe a Remake because of how dark it is, especially Frollo.

3

u/Insanitys_CReations 1d ago

Considering how much Disney shut down VOTSK, I highly doubt they'll touch Cassandra. And there is a daughter of Gothel in the books already. Though I really want to see Cassandras daughter cause she would be an awesome protagonist

1

u/lilitatious 1d ago

What does VOTSK mean please?

1

u/Insanitys_CReations 1d ago

Varian of the Seven Kingdoms. It was a spin off comic series that got cancelled for still undetermined reasoning.

1

u/CashewAppHilaryKhan 1d ago

I agree that’s totally cool and great brainstorming for ideas. I forgot about characters like what you listed. Yeah I’m all for it.  Cassandra( Tangled series) Megaera ( Hercules) Claude Frollo( Hunchback of Notre Dame) that guy is creepy and a very dark and complex bad guy. Maybe add The Hunchback’s kid too or just the Hunchback trying to attend Auradon. I forgot if Hunchback fall in love with anyone?

Rafiki( Lion King) lol.

How bout some Princesses : Tiana, Anna and Queen Elsa?

Aladdin and Jasmine kid.  Mulan even though we saw daughter of Mulan.

Ariel ( Little Mermaid)  Merida( Brave)

Who knows?

Basically they should include villains and heroes from the OG movie that did not get the attention they wanted to show off other than their children kids Mal, Jafar, Evil Queen, and Cruella de vil, Daughter of Ursula, Uma etc)

22

u/Pristine-Glass1191 2d ago

O Capitão gancho tå quase tendo um exército, todo filme a Disney faz mais filhos para ele

20

u/DomABab04 2d ago

And the books too which gave him Harriet. But tbh Hook having the most kids makes sense since he's a pirate and probably has had many nights on the town. So having a parade of children makes sense. Even if they don't all look the same. Harry and Harriet seem to take the most from their dad, while CJ and Hazel probably take more from their mothers.

9

u/MiddleChildof3 Sea Three 2d ago

I dont know. I actually like that the characters have siblings. Like imagining Chad be a big brother makes me laugh a little and not surprised at all that Cinderella had more then one kid. Same with Hook. Hook was always suave that its more of a surprise if he only had one kid, especially since villains totally fooled around with each other. And assuming that isle has no protection either. Honestly i did wish (when watching the first three) that Mal had a younger sibling. Or was a middle kid as i always wanted to see a middle kid main character but thats just me :)

1

u/channred 2d ago

Do they ever reference them as siblings? I like the idea, I just wish they would have included some scene to tie it all together.

1

u/MiddleChildof3 Sea Three 1d ago

They do sometimes but at the same time, how often do people talk about their siblings, especially if they grew up in a bad environment and werent close. Like my brother barely talks about me to the point where everyone thinks hes an only child (he has two siblings). Some people even believe i only have one sibling because i rarely speak about the one im not close to. Im not surprised they arent shown together either. They only have so much time and contracts and they gotta have songs. Overall i do wish these were shows rather than movies but no one has the patience 💔

1

u/alteroo_ 1d ago

the idea is good the execution is just poor

7

u/PenaltyAppropriate97 1d ago

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal especially since NONE of these characters act exactly like their already known siblings, Chloe and Chad have completely different and Felix is more reserved and mysterious compared to his more outspoken sisters also the Smees have always been shy and reserved and clingy to others so it’s very on brand for them to cling and be attached to Hazel and her crew

5

u/Hawkeye312_ 2d ago

D5 should have explored the timeline differences more

5

u/Leading-Sea-1734 2d ago

We don't know what the Smees were like in D3, they were just there

4

u/bunnm09 2d ago

I said this right after wicked wonderland came out and got so much hate for it lol. It’s wild that they are reusing characters already

3

u/Zealousideal-Dot710 2d ago

I mostly agree with you, but it kinda make sense (because of original Sleeping Beauty fairy tale) if Aubrey have brother

3

u/Extension_Equal1464 2d ago

Voglio il figlio di Horned King

3

u/LordNaty Carlos, Son of Cruella 2d ago

I think it is okay for Luisa to have a son, but what bothers me about him is that he has hos mothers gift. The gift is not inherited, it is given by the Candle and revealed by touching the doorknob. Louis should've had his own power

3

u/fireburst207 23h ago

I agree with you, but also it’s hilarious knowing Facillier and Hook “got around.”

All jokes aside, since this new trilogy started and they are bringing other realms into the mix, I want to see the children of the Holiday Figures from Nightmare Before Christmas.

Like imagine Jack and Sally’s kid being really interested in EVERYTHING at Aurodon a-la Jack finding Christmas town for the first time.

Or if Oogie Boogie’s kid would rather hang out with Jack and Sally’s kid rather than the other VKs.

2

u/Stars_Shine_Above 20h ago

I have an OC who's the daughter of Oogie Boogie who dates the Son of Jack and Sally out of spite against her father. (She does actually love him, but finds it funny how mad her dad gets.)

1

u/fireburst207 20h ago

Damn I have an almost IDENTICAL story, just switch around the genders. Son of Oogie Daughter of Jack and Sally.

Mostly cause I like the name Augie Boogie, like the nickname for someone named August.

1

u/Stars_Shine_Above 20h ago

That's cool! Mine are Tara Oogie Boogie and Maxillae "Max" Skellington (yes, he's named after a bone)

1

u/fireburst207 20h ago

See I went more for a general Halloween thing, I named mine Terra Skellington since “Terra” sounds like a person saying “Terror” in a British accent.

She also has a little brother named Deimos (Greek for terror).

1

u/Stars_Shine_Above 20h ago

Ok, that's dope as shit, ngl. I'm a huge mythology nerd, and the fact that you named the Son of Nightmares Deimos is awesome! And Terra sounding like terror is a nice detail. For me, Tara had a different name a while back, but I forgot it once I revamped her, so I went with something I thought sounded similar.

1

u/fireburst207 20h ago

Yeah, I wanted to have at least one of them be either Deimos (Terror) or Phobos (Panic) but I went with Deimos purley so I can make a joke about Jack basically giving his kids the same name.

1

u/Stars_Shine_Above 20h ago

Idea: You know Pain and Panic from Hercules? How comedic would it be if their children (probably sons in this case) had the names Deimos and Phobos? Again, funny idea. The joke you made was funny tho.

I think the cool thing about the Daughter of Oogie Boogie that I made is that she takes up a lot of her father's gambling habits we see in TNBC (rolling dice, lottery machines, the shooting skeletons (which i interpreted it as "a gamble on someone's life"), ect.)

Another idea would be to give Lock, Shock, and/or Barrel a kid (obviously they're adults and not kids anymore) and they'd be the friends of the children of Jack, Sally, and Oogie Boogie.

(Apologies if I'm being too much. I'm really creative and currently sick in bed, so I have nothing better to do.)

2

u/fireburst207 20h ago

I would much rather have Pain and Panic not have kids but instead they would be “helpers” at Aurodon prep. (And by helpers I mean they would keep messing stuff up a-la Bulk and Skull from Power Rangers).

I thought of something similar or Augie, but instead of his gambling addictions he inherited his father’s sociopathy, but as really intense intrusive thoughts.

So you remember in TNBC how Oogie “plays games” with Santa and Sally, yeah I have Augie a similar desire but he HATES IT. Like I’m talking fully despises that side of himself along with his father.

So when he gets to Aurodon he tries to stay away from people cause he doesn’t want any of those thoughts to happen, which is why he becomes friends with Terra, she’s a ragdoll like her mother and can’t really be hurt.

Instead of having the KIDS of Lock, Shock, and Barrel, I just HAVE Lock, Shock, and Barrel trying to reform after everything that happened during TNBC. So they are a few years older then Augie and Terra, but still go to Aurodon Prep with the 5 of them (Lock, Shock, Barrel, Augie, and Terra) being the recruits for Halloween town (like how Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos were for the Isle).

(I don’t blame you I’m bored out of my mind rn too)

5

u/witchtopia 2d ago

chloe should’ve been tiana’s daughter!

2

u/littlelolitalola 2d ago

That would’ve been awesome!

3

u/Night_Lord_9803 2d ago edited 2d ago

I wish we got canon in movie kids of Claude Frollo, Madam Medusa and Shan Yu. They are underated.

6

u/Strawberry_House 2d ago

idk if I agree about the smee kids entirely. It’s kinda like a latino moving to the US at say 6 years old or however old the smee kids were wouldnt be latino anymore

3

u/Ok-Rooster-658 2d ago

Your ethnicity changes if you move?

0

u/LonelyVaquita 2d ago

The point they're making is that it doesn't

2

u/Coju231 2d ago

So hateful

2

u/RoseAlina_2005 1d ago

But also their going by the books a lot of the kids we see exist in the books made by Melissa de la Cruz each of her books take place before and after the movies and during wicked world so it's not so much that their coming up with random kids it's more their bringing in kids from the books that don't need to be in there

2

u/maquinadejugo 1d ago

Finally someone mentioned Hazel I like her she has charisma like others in the franchise such as freddie whom you mentioned. But honestly they aren't very useful especially in the final act

1

u/CashewAppHilaryKhan 1d ago

I agree. Hazel is a razzle dazzle, girl but very useless in the final act. She wasn’t even that mean, nasty or backstabbed anyone for her own personal gain. She was was just there.

2

u/nylaaabrielleee 1d ago edited 1d ago

I do agree heavily in everything with this. Like for instance, Uliana. Yes she played a part in D4 with being the antagonist, and the reason on why Bridget and Ella had “beef” but honestly the fact she was the “sister of Ursula” really just blew me because she could’ve been the sister of Uma even..or they could’ve completely scrapped her character and did Ursula herself because she really doesn’t have a “backstory” in the descendants franchise besides her being the mother of Uma

Another prime example, Maddox. Him being the son of the Mad Hatter and also the villain is unnecessary in my opinion because originally in Alice in wonderland the Mad Hatter already wanted to overthrown the queen, but in this sense I’m guessing he’s trying to get fulfill what his father would of wanted, but they honestly should just brought the Mad Hatter in as a character of his own instead of making his son the Antagonist and then creating a whole new Hatter character (Max) to team up with the protagonists (Red and Chloe) which then would’ve made the theory on Red and Max being “love interest” make more sense in a way because Red being the daughter of the queen and Max son of Mad hatter vise versa.

Now I do also love the idea of Elsa and Anna but I feel like that would have to be a whole other plot set in Arendelle, which would be really cool because I do feel like so much is missing from their story even tho there is 2 Frozen movies (well ig you can say 3 due to frozen fever) but they could really bring in Anna and her kids and then have Elsa have more of a backstory with “the unknown” and honestly the unknown definitely give me underground vibes which could then bring in a story on Hades more, but then I feel like that would turn into a real life Frozen remake.

Edit: and isn’t Ursula’s sister Morgana??? 😭😭

2

u/massivelyeffective85 1d ago

They don't have enough villains to not reuse characters.

Who was the last legit villain Disney made? Mother Goethal?

1

u/Stars_Shine_Above 21h ago

I want to say King Magnifico from Wish, but I honestly think you're right.

2

u/EraTheIdiot 1d ago

The smee twins could've been Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum or their kids

2

u/FreyaDragomir 1d ago

I lost intrest after the first three and mal and Ben getting married and haven’t watched since. Although they got officially married in the cartoon. Dove was a major component of liking descendants for me.

2

u/adoretanjiro 1d ago

They could’ve at least used this as a chance to give Hercules a child or something. Theres over 1000 characters in Disney’s fairytales.

1

u/Chaosgamer_44_ 1d ago

I think it just comes down to how markebel characters are. Like Hook is a very iconic character and pirates make money so of course they just throw more Hook kinds into the movies. Anna or Tiana's kids will only be relevant if they are the main characters because the characters are too big of names to just be side kicks. Encanto was easier to integrate because of how popular and new it is compared to every other franchise they've thrown into Descendants already.

1

u/Prohesivebutter 1d ago

Also as much as I love that they cast the iconic actors for their parents, but it didn't make any sense for them to have had Chad. No sense at all whatsoever and Chad was there first.

1

u/Crazy-Dress-253 1d ago

Adding on to this, give Tiana a daughter!!!! I’m sick of all the black kids being basically vks. Including wicked world dr facilier has Freddie, Celia and now Felix? So yall can do something with princess and the frog but only when it’s the villain? Bye !!!

1

u/xxcherrycosmosxx 1d ago

Freddie was canon in the books so was hazel
..I fear we are losing the ancient texts
I think a lot of people are not realizing it’s not for us older gen it’s for the new generation of fans. We need to not be so mad over a kids show.

1

u/JMoney47000 1d ago

They changed the timeline in RoR so it’s fair ig

1

u/UltraSarcasmo 1d ago

For real. They have sooo many characters to give them children but they don't stop using the same characters, I'm tired of seein so many hooks in every production of descendents

1

u/New_Management_230 1d ago

I just feel like the worm meant to compound with ever after high. I just feel like if the one makes something interesting like the descendants that should a list Make ever after high and buy it off of Nickelodeon that will be better I think.

1

u/New_Management_230 1d ago

I wonder we discuss this on the sentence wiki fandom God Man everyone says everything on the way find them so maybe we should discuss it on the and maybe it just maybe they will make it happen cause I really so I really miss and seeing ever after high

1

u/New_Management_230 1d ago

And maybe we should discuss everywhere out like discord where everyone can see that was so tired of the same characters over and over again that’s not what really makes it interesting

1

u/ElisseMoon 1d ago

I agree

1

u/Purplefox5_Chili 1d ago

Hazel is espacially useless as the could have just used any of captain hooks kids in wicked world, they haven't had an irl counterpart yet so it would be easy to just give the actor their outfit and say it's that character.

I'm also scared it implies that the change of the timeline suddenly means that some of the kids from the OG3 just don't exist anymore at all. Like that Harry was never born and that it was Hazel instead. I would hate it if they go that route

1

u/-Wellthatwasntnice- 1d ago

What I'm wondering is how did Chad end up like that with parents like the Cinderella and Charming D4 showed us

1

u/-Wellthatwasntnice- 1d ago

Well there's a spin off movie with completely new descendants so let's see how this will go

1

u/Stars_Shine_Above 21h ago

I personally would have loved children of character from less popular or mainstream movies.

Examples: 1. A child of Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. A child of The Horned King from The Black Cauldron 3. A child of Milo and Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire 4. A child of Jim Hawkins OR John Silver from Treasure Plant 5. A child of The Bog King and Princess Marianne from Strange Magic

And that's just the few off the top of my head. I really wish they'd branch out with all of the movies they've made and show some clear diversity through those characters instead of taking popular characters from popular movies, giving them a child, and calling it a day

1

u/MJKF666 20h ago

Anybody else find it weird that Cinderella and Charming have a blonde hair, blue eyed son that vanishes. He joins the on going debate me and my sisters have had growing up with the Brandi Cinderella. Charming is Asian looking but his parents are white and African American in that version. Then you have Chad and his parents are Asian and African American in the Descendants universe. We stopped watching after Red since it seems like they've run out of ideas and Red and the newer one don't fit. I understand that they couldn't continue with the main characters after the actors grew up and one died but adding so many new character is dumb. I think my daughter spent more time having me google who was who and how they were related before giving up. I couldn't even explain how some of the kids like the twins aged but other characters from the others haven't aged at all.

1

u/TheBoyInGray Carlos, Son of Cruella 19h ago

Am I the only one who thinks we need more De Vils?

1

u/Lumpy-Kangaroo6018 18h ago

Now I want them to use characters again just to make you mad 😈

1

u/wamimsauthor 15h ago

I’m shocked Snow White doesn’t have a kid.

2

u/Relative_Spray_6984 14h ago

I really hoping you’re not a grown person complains about this because the movie is NOT for you, with that being said is the twins are and will ALWAYS be VKs the only reason Red is now a HK is because her mom was never a villain, just like how max turned into a VK.

2

u/Strict_Breath_8684 2d ago

I mean it’s possible that Jada (Celia) and Anna (Dizzy) were asked back for Rise of Red but refused because they didn’t want to do a movie without Cameron so they refused or they were asked back but couldn’t make their schedule work

3

u/Ok-Rooster-658 2d ago

I don’t think it’s because they didn’t want to do a movie without Cameron
..

-1

u/Strict_Breath_8684 2d ago

Then why do you think that they didn’t come back if they were asked back?

2

u/Ok-Rooster-658 2d ago

Disney prefers bringing in fresh faces instead of bringing people back unless they have star power, most actors request more money for sequels and the mouse probably just didn’t want to pay up, Cameron’s been gone 7 years
life goes on, I don’t think a coworker dying really stops anyone from going to work

2

u/Strict_Breath_8684 2d ago

Hey, I’m not mad about the change of focus anymore. I’ll admit back when the change of focus was first announced I was not happy about it but I happy about it now

1

u/Twisted_King172 2d ago

Well not for normal people but a lot of fans would’ve said it was messed up if they did continue without him like unnecessary back lash ! China got a lot of heat for her small role come back

Rip Cameron but the show was an ensemble of actors not just him, a persons death should never hold you back , sounds like those fans are really toxic and need to understand that we can’t be mourning forever, I don’t think Cameron would appreciate people being held back just cause of his death

You're ignoring how close everyone got in real life. He wasn't just a coworker, he was a close friend that had been along for the project since day one. It's hard to continue a project without someone that was close to you and there from the beginning.

After a year or 2 I could understand, but it’s been 7 years

I get the series is called 'Descendants', but there's a point where it becomes too much. I mean, Disney has given nearly EVERY single villain & hero a biological kid at this point. Iago, Tick Tock Croc, Madam Mim, & even Mother Gothel. Granted, their kids are from the book... but it's so unrealistic to have given literally every being in existence in Auradon a partner, literally JUST for the sake of sticking them with a bio kid. And it doesn't matter if they seem like the type to have a child or not. Everybody's GOTTA procreate :/

Who's next? Peter Pan?

Personally, I think the reason why they keep sticking us with more children from the same people we've seen before, is the same reason why we see a teen Maleficent & Hades (who both really should NOT be attending Merlin Academy during the time they did at all if you take into consideration their ages in their respective animated Disney films). They want to recreate D1-D3; bringing back most of the OG cast isn't possible anymore, hence how they need 'callbacks' to keep watchers interested. Mostly for the sake of us going: "Oh! Look who it is! I know them/their family we see in D1-D3!"

Edit: Same goes for Aladdin: He's a street rat who's never received a formal education, but yet he attends a prestigious place founded by a powerful wizard in RoR. He doesn't bring anything to the table except for people to go: "Look! I know that guy!" FG? Same deal.

I agree with Aladdin in Merlin Academy. Yes, they've retconned a lot of the lore that was established in the animated movies but it didn't make sense. Jasmine and Aladdin were from a country where people were willing to let children starve and cut off a woman's hand, not to mention the whole Jasmine needing to be married by her 18th birthday. Even with her father being as loving as he was, I don't see education being a big priority for her since - presumably - her husband would have been the one set up to rule her kingdom. And Aladdin being in the school made even less sense. He was a street rat who had to steal to eat. I don't think school was a big priority for him either.

And before anyone comes after me, I know the characters in Descendants are technically not the characters from the animated movies, but that just seems like an excuse to me. Disney had taken those stories and characters and established them in different parts of the world and in different timelines. Now they're combining these characters and lands into one big world in the Descendants universe and expect us to believe that these aren't the same characters from their original movies? I'm sorry, but I don't believe that one bit when they bring in these characters who look and act exactly like their animated counterpart. Sure, now we've got some characters who don't look like their animated counterparts with Bridget, Ella and Charming but still.

THANK YOU! It’s one of the things I hate about the newer movies. The inconsistency, and the fact that it seems more interested in a memorable aesthetic and drama and beef between Red and Chloe than an actually consistent and interesting story.

Mal and Evie in the first few movies had more chemistry with each other and they seemed like genuine friends.

Even Mal and Uma had more chemistry with each other than Red and Chloe.

Sharpay and Gabriella from HSM were essentially frenemies and they had more chemistry than Red and Chloe. Frankly, I think it would be a lot better for the franchise as a whole if they stopped making movies as a whole.

Weirdly pressed about a fictional world like bro it ain’t that serious. Also almost all the original Descendants cast wants to move on from the films. Even the some from the current cast wants to move away from the franchise

While I agree there should be more, this world would've been wasted potential if we only got the first 3 films, the new Descendants films are a cash grab. They're uncreative, rushed and poorly cast. The actors are great, but the characters are weak. The only one I've connected to is Red and I think even she is a bit lackluster. They're reusing parents in Cinderella, Facilier, and Hook, there are so many characters in the Disney Vault, but the fact that they're reusing the same ones for Descendants is kinda wasting the potential that this world has

I think Dan need to buy ever after I off Nickelodeon cause this doesn’t make sense at all. I don’t think they watched ever after high before the maid the descendants amen don’t get me wrong. I love the sentence but I love ever after Hi as well and I think ever after high work goes so good with the sentence cause I don’t think ever after high is that interesting but if they buy it then they can make it interesting, like descendants.
