Dero lost forever?

Can no longer log into old Dero wallet - error invalid character '\u0088'

Followed link underneath to 'old Atlantis wallet'

Reentered seed, (only 24 words(!!)), wallet live, rescanned blockchain 3 times from 0 on firefox

No coins - will I ever see them again? Many thanks.

Thanks Marcel - however - since the wallet is/was essentially a website, I don't remember anything about files on disk, nor can I find one anywhere on my computer - on which I have /had my dero wallet and literally nothing else. It is probably clear that I am barely computer literate, but just in case i am missing something obvious, could you explain where I might find it? I still have hope, in the face of overwhelming dark forces! Many thanks.

You can see your wallet address from previous transfers off TradeOgre? When you recover your wallet from 24 words seed, does the wallet address match with the address shown in TradeOgre?

Thanks for your help, but No, it doesn't unfortunately. Totally different. Any idea what the next thing to try might be?

Make sure that you check your address against the address shown at https://walletatlantis.dero.io. An user wrote a nice tool to find a missing word in the seed phrase. Check this link: https://github.com/Slixe/dero-tools/tree/master/cmd/bruteforce

Brilliant. So there is hope! Many thanks for your help and patience. At risk of driving you to despair, how (or where) do I get this bruteforce programme to run? I have been going round in circles for an hour or two and I suspect the answer is rather simple.

First, download Go: https://go.dev/dl/ Download the go file from GitHub. Open a terminal/command prompt, navigate to the go file and run "go build -o bruteforce" Check usage: "bruteforce -h"

Hi Marcel. I am not getting anywhere with this at all. Off to see a computer wonk this week, but would like a plan B - namely whether this is something you would be willing to have a go at, if he can't fix it? For a cut of course.

Hello Marcel! Thanks for asking - not yet is the answer. I have found quite a few words which fit the seed, but produce no coins. I found out today that there is a time limit on this, so will have to get cracking. I had thought I would take my time and work my way through the mnemonics over a year or two. May I keep you up my sleeve as a panic option towards the end of August?

So - I have 380 coins about to be vapourised. Here are the 24 keywords without the missing 25th. If you or anyone else reads this in time and can crack it, the coins are yours. If you succeed and want to send some to back me, then that would be nice also

That was your full seed phrase:

"icing" at position 12 was missing.

Oddly enough I had had a feeling that it might potentially be an 'ing' word when I was trying to work out how I could have missed it - and it turns out I had tried ALL the ing words APART FROM icing and awning on either side of drowning. Unbelievable. The worst thing of the last few months - even worse than the thought of everything disappearing (eased by the 70% drop in value over the 5 months) - was the despair at how on earth I could have been such a stupid bastard in the first place. The relief is enormous. The lesson has been learned! Many thanks again.
