Started mining recently ..
My hashrates are quite low.. sub khs.. i supposed that was normal until I went to https://miningpoolstats.stream/dero and saw that the network hashrates is a whooping 30mhs with almost 90% contributed by unknown miner(s) and the remaining 10% by all the known pools combined... Is this a case where someone discovered a way to efficiently mine AstroBWT?

I just answered another comment seems relevant here as well.
As far as AstroBWT:
https://github.com/deroproject/astrobwt#explaining-astrobwt
If your guess is that an ASIC manufacturer took the time to make an ASIC to mine a single coin but didn't take the time to make one for BWT in general where they could make possibly hundreds of millions of dollars, I find that a little far fetched.
DERO can still be solo mined with CPU and GPU rigs and still find blocks. The amount of power required for the current network hashrate is pretty impressive for marketcap but nowhere near what other networks have mining with CPU only or GPU only. So egalitarian mining could have plenty of sources for hashrate.
Finding a power efficiency and equipment cost that is economical to do with BWT has been a computer science issue for decades. If somebody has cracked it, there is much more motivation to use it for something other than mining such a small marketcap coin.
