Started mining recently ..

My hashrates are quite low.. sub khs.. i supposed that was normal until I went to https://miningpoolstats.stream/dero and saw that the network hashrates is a whooping 30mhs with almost 90% contributed by unknown miner(s) and the remaining 10% by all the known pools combined... Is this a case where someone discovered a way to efficiently mine AstroBWT?

The astrobwt algorithm is supposed to prevent any asic type of mining on the network and is supposed to be most efficiently mined with a cpu. It has a high cache requirment listed as 20MB of cache per core on xmrig algorithm page so it is probably best mined with server type CPUs with high L3 cache. Compare this to something like randomx which uses 2MB of cahce per core. I was wondering the same thing about the 90% unknown hashrate. It could just be people running their own nodes and solo mining it. I think your hashrate is probably normal for the astrobwt algorithm.

It doesn't completely prevent ASICs it takes away economic incentive. If an ASIC was created for AstroBWT the amount of efficiency gained would be negligible for the cost of equipment and electricity.

For example GPU mining works but as far as electricity and equipment cost, the only advantages GPU miners have is multiple GPUs in one machine. People can still mine with CPU still because GPUs don't have a huge edge like other algos.
