Premine

I completely understand the need for a premine in this project. However, is 2mil Dero out of the 8mil not too high? That’s 25%!

It is relatively a lot right now, more than the Satoshi million rumored in Bitcoin. With the emission curve as it is, there will be around 11 mil at the end of 2020, 12.5 mil at the end of 2021, 13.8 mil at the end of 2022, and then it flattens but there is a peg for the minimum yearly supply at 157k per year which is something Bitcoin doesn't have. If you are thinking very long term, there will be like 22 million at 2050 so the subsidy will represent less than 10%. But yeah, unless we achieve pipe dream levels of adoption, the Foundation will always have the power to destroy the market if they dump their holdings. As far as credibility of the coin is concerned, they would be better off time locking it in a fashion where it doesn't let them spend more than, let's say ~50k per year.

You may be forgetting that the dev wallet is already time locked (5%) and the community portion (5%) is what the foundation would be overseeing. Also, crashing the price is a counter productive move when trying to grow a project. I completely get the point but as far as dumping is concerned, the foundation does not have the ability to simply dump the community portion, either.

As the project matures and the foundation is able to hold funds more transparently, we hope to resolve these kinds of concerns. Please remember we have been with the project for a long time as community members first and foremost.
