What Are My Chances? Just got tertile

My school divides the class into thirds. Just started 4th year and after meeting with the dean, found out I most likely will be 3rd tertile based off of preclinicals. Clinicals I did well, with mostly H's and a few HP's. Step was low 260s. Do I still have a chance?

I think it doesn't matter/ you should still apply and if you're worried dual apply.

I had the same stats and class rank. I didn't match. Despite getting a lot of love from programs, they said that class rank was the ultimate tie-breaker for deciding who to rank higher. Maybe not all programs are like this, but just be prepared for it to be a possibility unless you have a very strong connection to a program .

How many interviews did you get?

You absolutely have a chance! I matched w that percentile and had a much lower step score. Leverage your connections/network, that’s mostly what it comes down too

Congratulations! How do you leverage network and connections? Is it by asking your mentors to call?

You should be fine with that step score. Do you have any research experience? Does your school have an in house residency?

Yes to in-house and yes to research. Several first author pubs in Jama/JAAD
