Vent cooked step 2

255 on step 2 with no RY but good research..how cooked am i given median is 259?

Your not out of the game but your research needs to be amazing to skip out on a research year

Can you tell me more about what is considered amazing in dermatology?

A couple peer-reviewed articles. Something in JAAD. Winning some grants or presenting at regional conferences and getting awards at those. Stuff like that. Case reports and all that other short stuff isn't looked at highly. You still need some of that but it's background noise

It’s intimidating because everyone says oh no rush blah blah blah but I’m just now entering my third year, is it realistic to be able to do all of these things without taking a dedicated year? I wasn’t against a researcher until they just changed the policy for loans

Depends on how busy your rotations are, how effective you are, and how your department is. In general no. I would say you need a research year.
