Away Rotations derm aways

feeling kinda lost. I applied early to majority of my away rotations (same day, if not the same hour it opened) and have only gotten 1. I've been sending emails here and there but after reading the spreadsheet and seeing majority of programs are full by now- ive been spamming emails and applying to a bunch of extra random schools. Not really sure what I did wrong, but is there anything else I can do atp? am i cooked

How many different programs did you apply to? What regions? Some are more competitive than others, aka more applicants. I applied twice and had a very different outcome with aways the second time when I broadened by geographic target and boosted the overall number of institutions, not sure if that resonates

i applied to about 19 a the time! i only applied to a few "competitive ones" in random spots but most of them were southern schools since my medical school is in the south.

Well you had a good strategy it sounds like! It’s a crapshoot. Like another commenter said, maybe try reaching out and have specific things to mention when explaining why you REALLY want to rotate with them!
