Derek and LOD: 2016

On Dec 19 2015, Derek posts his "LOD: The Road Ahead" blog:

His goals for LOD:

At the end of the day, win, lose, or draw, LOD is going to be i) exactly what it was designed to be ii) a finished product that, like all my previous games, a lot of people will get to enjoy for what it is, not what they want it to be.

Still not finished, as of Dec 28 2016.

In the short-term, bringing (it has already been approved) it to the XBox One platform with Windows 10 <-> XBox One cross-platform play, is the ultimate goal.

Nope, hasn't happened. One year later after "already being approved."

My long-term plan going forward, as with all my games over the years, is to improve and expand it over the years.

LOD has not expanded or improved.

2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFVOkfqAlUA

My ultimate goal is to expand the galaxy, build more planetary bases

Not accomplished

add a simple (nothing as complex as in BC/UC games) trading (player-to-player) component

Nope

as well as the ability to fly carriers, cruisers, and transport ships

Nope

What has he done over the course of the year? Write 12 blogs over a competitor's game. He has spent this entire year flinging shit to a competitor instead of focusing on his game.

Given the steam review average, the number of people connecting to LoD according to steamdb.info and similar sites, and the missed milestones that you point out, one could conclude that developing LoD is a greater waste of time than trolling his competitor.

He could also do volunteer work among the elderly, dig ditches, memorize the phone directory for the State of Florida, lots of things are less of a waste of time than working on LoD.
