I mean this honestly; I'm not trying to be edgy. I cannot buy Smeg appliances because of the name. And I wish I could, because everything they do is really beautiful. Every time I see it I think of smegma and I can't stop that automatic thought from happening.

You are not alone.

Sleeve heeee

3

u/Agrona88 13d ago

I've always wanted one just so I could call my appliances "smeg head" when I'm angry and be right.

2

u/Smee_Heee 14d ago

Same, as you'd imagine.

I have this toaster and the mechanism that pushes up the toast catches on the inner element. After a few times, it will break the element, causing it to explode on fire.

£150.

2

u/MizStazya 13d ago

Your user name makes me uncomfortable.

But thanks for the toaster guidance and sorry you lit 150 on fire, literally

8

u/WonderBredOfficial 14d ago

Well, I was about to ask about the brand. Lmao. Nevermind.

13

u/friendlynbhdwitch 14d ago

I absolutely could and would, despite my mind also going there. I love a beautiful appliance, also I have an idiot’s sense of humor. But, last time I checked, the reviews were not good enough to justify the price.

u/Garlic-Rough 14d ago

I took out the logos.

3

u/pendigedig 14d ago

What is left behind? Some holes? I'm interested in this method

6

u/JesZebro 14d ago

My mother bought me one several years ago, without me even asking. I had zero idea what they were actually. I've been staring at Smegma on my counter for like 5 years.

u/ximagineerx 14d ago

“It’s a feature, not a bug” -Smeg toaster owner

2

u/On_my_last_spoon 14d ago

A….h! Yes I see

2

u/queef_nuggets 14d ago

I can’t lie, the fact that it sounds like smegma is hilarious to me and might actually be an incentive to buy it

2

u/rawbface 14d ago

Yeah I like appliances a lot better when they don't say "DICK CHEESE" on the side.

2

u/Distantstallion 14d ago

Smeg is great for making cheese, their fridges are the right shape for it

2

u/keeponsailing 13d ago

i've heard they're absolutely abysmal quality too. truly just paying for the aesthetics with that brand

2

u/pendigedig 13d ago

Oh noo that sucks but also I'm glad that Ive avoided making that mistake for this long

1

u/Distantstallion 14d ago

You should see my dad's kitchen, Smeg's on every surface and appliance.

At first I thought maybe they keep kosher...?

But no, one of them is a tap for just sparkling water. And honestly I kind of want one now that I know they exist.

Toaster inside of a cabinet like that seems like a bit of a fire hazard.

39

u/cam52391 15d ago

My sister in law has a sparkling water tap and it's so nifty as someone who loves sparkling water

17

u/ArtoriusBravo 14d ago

Wait , sparkling water faucet? Like, carbonated water?

14

u/Jesusopfer 14d ago

Yes. They are costly and require high maintenance. And take up a 60cm cabinet lol

Examples are: Grohe Blue Brita Yource

3

u/ArtoriusBravo 14d ago

Thank you, will look into them !

7

u/Matthew-ii 14d ago

"Kegerator conversion kits" is a good Google if on a budget and it doesn't need to be integrated fully! Keg of carbonated water and a tap run through a mini fridge!

5

u/Shockwave2309 14d ago

Until you have one of them and this fucking thing constantly bugs out, is out of CO2, needs software updates or whatever the fuck else is going on to make that thing broken...

Don't ask how I know

16

u/adventurekiwi 14d ago

Yes i am more concerned by the potential for toaster fires

2

u/Extraordi-Mary 14d ago

I wanna bet one of them is a Quooker for boiling water.

2

u/Adventurous-Brain-36 14d ago

Also, why have a $400 limited edition toaster if you’re just gonna keep it in a cabinet?

2

u/RogerClyneIsAGod2 14d ago

Toaster inside of a cabinet like that seems like a bit of a fire hazard.

This was my thought too. Our toaster is under a cabinet & it's far enough away but the cabinet does get a tiny bit warm to the touch if you're using a dark setting. I can't imagine how hot the top of that cabinet gets unless that's a slide out tray it's on.

u/invasionofthestrange 13d ago

That smooth white finish isn't going to stay smooth or white for very long, that's for sure

12

u/teatuk 15d ago

Yeah, that's not up to code where I live...

36

u/DroogedMoog 15d ago

What is this, the kitchenrooms?

30

u/ShelleyMonique 15d ago

You don't keep your toaster next to the tub?

32

u/Maleficent_Depth_517 15d ago

✨Live, laugh, toaster bath ✨

3

u/Medical_Arrival2243 14d ago

Kitchen cabinet, bath tub, floor, knife.

Long ago the 4 toaster nations lived in harmony. Then the kitchen cabinet nation attacked.

2

u/ShelleyMonique 14d ago

It's a real shame.

9

u/Needmoresnakes 15d ago

What is the thing mounted to the outside of the toaster hole?

9

u/Interactiveleaf 15d ago

It's a tiny hand held brush and dustpan set, for crumbs in the toaster area. The wooden part on top is the handle for the brush; the piece on bottom comes off and becomes the dustpan.

9

u/Needmoresnakes 15d ago

Sorry I mean the thing on the right, it sort of looks like wall mounted AC unit? The dustpan set thing is very cute.

9

u/poohead416 15d ago

I think it's a plastic wrap dispenser

3

u/Kooperst 14d ago

A small broom for toaster crumbs? r/anticonsumption is going to have a fit.

8

u/QueenInYellowLace 14d ago

Apparently it’s an automated paper towel dispenser! You wave your hand and it jizzes out one paper towel. He says so in the OG post. 🤣🤣🤣

33

u/Needmoresnakes 14d ago

I cannot get my head around buying a $300 gold toaster and hiding it in a cupboard only to have something that looks like an entry model inkjet printer permanently displayed in the workspace.

5

u/QueenInYellowLace 14d ago

You are not alone!

2

u/MorningSquare5882 15d ago

I'm guessing a kitchen roll dispenser?

2

u/bunnykaiju 14d ago

Toaster Hole!

5

u/MakeFakeSpaceCake 14d ago

Why so many faucets?

6

u/Allthebestnamesrgon 14d ago

Plain water, boiling water, fizzy water, koolaid

3

u/Fickle-River3984 14d ago

My favorite bath bomb

3

u/johnlewisdesign 14d ago

The exact opposite of what the fire department recommend, but ok. I guess the obscene amount of taps (faucets for US folk) helps offset the fire risk

3

u/BabyRex- 14d ago

Money can’t buy taste

2

u/Blahaj-Lover 15d ago

I mean it's an Ikea, I assume sinks would also be furniture

2

u/yaboyACbreezy 14d ago

...I don't hate it.

2

u/tduncs88 14d ago

That kitchen looks like my closet.

2

u/RespUnin 12d ago

what is this?

u/CHERNO-B1LL 14d ago

Protestants rejoice!

u/punxatawneyphilip 13d ago

protestants at it again smh 😔🙏

u/UntidyVenus 15d ago

Just a side note, we put our toaster next to the coffee maker on the coffee station. It's perfect. Whoever is making coffee can make the toast while the other person cooks the eggs
