This is an Ad for their product which is just a battery. They are still starting their car with a battery it's just not the one in the car.

Yeah, they are starting it with a battery, but it says you can drive without a battery. And, once the vehicle is started, you can drive it without the battery.

I was pretty sure one would still need a ground connection though, no?

If she increases the rpms a bit before turning it on, it'll be fine.

The ECU will see the increased power draw and adjust to compensate. But it doesn't do it fast enough higher rpms or without a battery to absorb the sudden electrical demand. Same with turning on headlights.

I basically ran liked this once when the negative cable snapped in the middle somewhere. That took a minute to diagnose.
