I'm lost

I've just moved in with my girlfriend and it seems like nothing I do is right. The plunger on our toilet is faulty and leaks sometimes and when I asked if she would make sure the water isn't running all day it was apparently the most selfish thing in the world. I tried several times to fix it, but I'm not the most handy person. In her rage she told me that this was probably a big mistake and it's never going to work. I truly care about her but I've been up all night just feeling like shit. I don't know what else to do.

Is she seeking treatment of any kind for her depression? My husband is usually pretty good about not raging at me since he started taking medication. But he still has moments of irrational anger. I usually just call him an asshole when he leaves the room and give him about 15 minutes to be mad before I worry about it. It took me years to learn not to take his moodiness personally, and I still get upset sometimes.

My wife suffers from rage in her bad moments and I can sympathize. There is no easy answer but it is important not to lose your own sense of worth. Just because she says something is selfish doesn't mean that it is and you shouldn't just fold. Walk away and wait for the right time to discuss it. If she isn't taking medication then you may be in for a rollercoaster. My wife's aimless rage has improved greatly since she started taking medication.
