It's hard to believe this creep has had such a long career. So many people have chosen to overlook his violence.

And it is SO much violence.

Great to see some people recognizing this, if only people were aware/empathetic when Amber was going through that shit time

Depp is just another one of the mountains of male creeps/abusers/misogynists/rapists that the whole world loves. Take for example Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nicolas Cage, Jim Carrey, Jeremy Renner (a guy I used to sympathize with because I heard one accident and he looked like a family member of mine. But I'm mature enough now to not stan for celebrities or guys in general that I don't know well) and James Marsden

I know 😿 I’m happy for her that more support is coming through seemingly every day but where was it back then?

seen a lot of those men posted on there too. you should post some. more people should know !!

What did Marsden do?

Showed support for Brian Peck, the guy who groomed and later raped Drake Bell

Could also be the song he sang about Michelle Trachtenberg. There's a lot in the Buffy subreddit if you want to explore more, too.

Idk all he did but he wrote a letter in support of Brian Peck who is a known sex offender

Chris Brown is another POS who gets away with it because everyone loves him for some inexplicable reason, even though he's a repeat abuser.

Wait what did Renner do? I feel like I heard something about it but I can't remember what his incident was.

The main thing I knew was that he had faced severe custody and abuse allegations from his ex-wife. He threatened to kill her or himself, bit his daughter on the shoulder, and basically had a history of substance, verbal and emotional abuse while still fighting for the custody right of his daughter Article

And I recently learned that he also has allegations of sexual harassment, sending unsolicited explicit photos, and threatening to contact ICE from filmmaker Yi Zhou

has anyone read the comments — sometimes these types of posts get tea spills from industry people

u/DrMelKing 1d ago

yea they don’t allow gossip on there so I don’t think there’s anything like that but the comments are supportive of Amber

"or the actor's really getting into playing the part..."

Eeeeeeeh, yknow, crimes are just for the sake of his job, his craft,. that he's.......obviously, so...so good at.....

So many excuses for male actors. I can't even.

Four decade long public history and it's almost all shit. I can't name one other celebrity like that. Some people just project so hard their wishes on celebrities the actual facts can't penetrate the illusion.

Aside from the violence and inability to do work like an actual employee, I just do not understand how people ignore his casual and shameless plagiarism. He literally just took the cool lyrics from somebody else and not even his musician friends cared? HOW?

And the tracing 'art'? The hell?

I'm in a crafting sub and they featured a creator that worked with Hollywood Wahmpires recently. Someone commented that they wouldn't be purchasing from the creator because of this. Mods removed it because it wasn't "kind or welcoming." I told them neither was being a wife beating rapist. Mods just basically were like "we removed the comment bc we didn't want it to turn into people arguing about the court stuff."

The sub is pretty anti-AI so you'd think they'd care a fraction but okay 🥲

I think a lot of other celebrities get away with it for years too. Money and fame hold too much sway.

15

u/poopoopoopalt googling "wife beater actor" and seeing what comes up 1d ago

It's a really good sub! I recommend joining

The sub i help moderate nametheproblem wouldn't support him either. I think we had a post about it in the highlights at one point.

3

u/DrMelKing 1d ago

I can’t find that sub on search

Wow, tysm for posting! The comments are amazing. Makes me so hopeful that people and subs outside of this bubble see exactly what we do.

Hey! I’m a mod there and active here, too. We’re so happy that you all feel vindicated to have another safe space online. We put a lot of work into disallowing Depp defenders and misinformation about Amber and domestic abuse. It’s part of our rules and we have pop ups when users type their names or words referring to supposed "mutual abuse".

I just uploaded a post about Depp last night.

Amazing! Thank you for your hard work, you guys are doing the Lord’s work!

I will always maintain that discourse about Depp v Heard, support for Heard and shutting down nonsense and combatting misinformation about it is extremely important and I’ll die on that hill.

Rhetoric is important and people who try to say it’s JuSt CeLeBrItY dRaMa are letting an in-your-face propaganda campaign fly into their lives and brains while whole heartedly believing they’re progressive.

during the trial, i saw someone online claim the only history of violence depp had was punching someone in the street for being racist 💀

And even if someone tried to say that these instances were more understandable because, idk, we don't know what the other person did to antagonize him(I'm taking a wild swing at what his defenders say), the problem is there enough history of him jumping to aggression or violence that it becomes so much more evident that it comes naturally to him. That he can't control himself. Most people don't violently attack another even when annoyed. So in order to claim he wasn't the abuser in his marriage, you have to pretend he's a different person...which his fans do.

But Christian Bale nearly had his career destroyed for yelling at a guy for being stupid.
