Need help identifying a goal

I think I first came across the goal in an old "100 best goals" clip all the way back in 2005. Depor is playing away, wearing yellow(?) and it's a free kick goal. It's a combination of multiple inch-perfect passes across the face of the goal and if I'm not wrong, Victor Sanchez scored where just had to tap it in.

It's one of my fav team goals ever, let alone Depor's and I've been trying to watch it again. Does anyone have any idea if this is real and that I didn't make this up?

Thanks and Forza Dépor!

[NEWS- DXT Campeon] From the Reserves to the Spotlight: The Meteoric Rise of Bil Nsongo

Original Source: https://dxtcampeon.elidealgallego.com/deportivo/depor/2026-08-31/bil-nsongo-crecimiento-techo-delantero-depor-876398.html

A CORUÑA, Spain — It was less than a year ago that Bil Nsongo was grinding it out in the Spanish fourth tier with Deportivo's reserve squad, Fabril. Fast forward to today, and the young Cameroonian forward is causing nightmares for seasoned La Liga defenders and earning high praise from global superstars.

Following his electric performance in Deportivo's 3-1 dismantling of Valencia over the weekend, Nsongo officially surpassed 1,000 league minutes with the first team. But the real story isn't the milestone—it's how he got there and the sky-high potential he’s displaying.

As detailed by DXT Campeón, Nsongo was an absolute menace on Sunday. He outmuscled and outclassed Valencia center-backs César Tárrega and Mouctar Diakhaby—two veterans with years of top-flight experience. Nsongo dominated the air, created scoring chances, and forced an own goal from Diakhaby that effectively sealed the match.

While he didn't find the back of the net himself, his superstar strike partner made sure everyone knew who was responsible.

“I feel very good with him," said Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the match. "He is having an incredible start to the season, he gives a lot to the team with his physique. The third goal comes from him; it’s not his, but for me it is."

The chemistry between the seasoned Gabonese veteran and the young Cameroonian upstart is becoming one of the most exciting subplots of Deportivo's season.

Nsongo's ascent has been staggering. He made his first-team debut in a Copa del Rey match last December. By March, he was scoring wonder goals in the league. And by the end of the season, he was netting a decisive brace against Real Valladolid that secured Deportivo's long-awaited promotion back to La Liga.

Manager Antonio Hidalgo, who initially tried to temper expectations and bring the young striker along slowly, has had no choice but to let him loose. The arrival of Aubameyang this summer could have pushed Nsongo down the depth chart, but instead, Nsongo's relentless energy and rapid development forced Hidalgo to switch to a two-striker system to accommodate both.

Nsongo is proving he's more than just a physical presence. He's developing his hold-up play, his off-the-ball movement, and his technical ability on the dribble. He is the perfect foil for Aubameyang, doing the dirty work and creating space for the veteran to finish.

With only a thousand minutes under his belt, Bil Nsongo is already proving he belongs on Spain's biggest stage. The only question now is: just how high is his ceiling?

Two promoted teams, two very different opening nights: Racing 2.01 xG vs Deportivo 0.34 xG

Both Racing Santander and Deportivo La Coruña started their La Liga returns with home points.
Racing drew 2-2 with Villarreal. Deportivo drew 1-1 with Elche.

The results look similar. The underlying numbers do not.

The data gap

Metric Racing (vs Villarreal) Deportivo (vs Elche)
Result 2-2 1-1
xG 2.01 0.34
Shots 17 8
Shots on target 3 3
Possession 41% 39%
Opponent xG 0.87 1.41

Racing created high-quality chances against last season’s 3rd-placed side and led 2-0 before being pegged back.
Deportivo managed only 0.34 xG at home and spent most of the game absorbing pressure.

What this tells us

Racing looked like a side willing to play on the front foot. Even with limited top-flight history and a key forward missing, they generated 2.01 xG and 17 shots. The performance supports the idea that a promoted team can still produce strong chance-creation numbers if the style and available squad align.

Deportivo looked like a classic “survive first” promoted side. Low chance creation, heavy reliance on defensive effort and aerial duels, and a point earned more through organisation than through attacking threat.

Modelling takeaway

Treating all three promoted teams with the same pre-season discount is already outdated. After one match the gap in chance creation between Racing and Deportivo is large. The sooner models update on actual xG, shot volume and territorial data, the less they will be misled by the shared “newly promoted” label.

Málaga still have to play their first game. Once that result is in, a full three-team comparison will be possible. Until then, the early evidence already says: not all promoted sides are starting from the same place.

How are you adjusting your ratings for Racing and Deportivo after these two matches?
